Mixed feelings on this bowl
For reference, I have two American Short Hair cats. About 10 3/4 and 10 1/4lbs. Previous bowls used were oval, 1" high rims and stainless steel. Dexypaws ceramic is well glazed and is sturdy. When eating from it, both cats leave considerably less mess and the bowl stayed in place. My hesitancy on it is two things. One, the bowl 5.5" round. It's barely enough room for the cats to get in their and lick the food off the sides. Whiskers are constantly squashed. Since they tend to lick more than bite at their food, that means their is some risk of whisker fatigue. Two, since the bowl is minimally raised they still have to hunch down while eating. I used two old bowls with silicone ribbed bases together to add another inch of height and that seemed to solve the problem. Conclusion: Well made, sturdy, and easy to clean; but could be wider to ease whisker fatigue and available in taller heights. The current height and bowl width is okay for very young cats. Will probably keep it for use with dried snacks where the time and amount eating from it will be minimal as it is sturdy and pleasant to look at.
