A: After ordering this, I found the gasket is not silicone, but appears to be an ldpe foam. It's the same firm springy foam that you sometimes see cradling electronics inside their packaging boxes.

I have purchased Iris WeatherPro totes for years but this recent shipment is unacceptable. There is a stark visual and structural contrast between the "diamond clear" virgin resin bins of the past and these new, yellowed, and murky units that may be recycled plastic and a deal breaker for me. The Issue: The plastic arrived discolored (amber/yellow tint) and lacks the optical clarity advertised. This "milky" appearance suggests either significant thermal oxidation from improper warehouse storage or a shift to inferior recycled feedstock. I needed storage bins to protect some rather expensive items. I am so glad I found these! Four clamps keep it closed. A foam gasket runs along the entire inside perimeter of the lid preventing dust or insects from entering. They are the tight size to fit in the bottom of my closet. Love these! ♥️

Handle with Care
One lid was cracked and a piece fell off indicating its fragile and probably won’t hold up over time. I just kept it and taped it up with packing tape because then I’d have put in for a return, rebox it and take to UPS. The size is good and the latches are secure, but overall material seems not very sturdy to stand up to stacking and moving.

Great bins and excellent customer service
These bins are lightweight but sturdy and have the extra seal at the top to keep out critters and moisture. The clear bins also let us easily see the contents. Locking on four sides makes them more secure (lids won’t pop off while carrying) and they are stackable. Perfect for our storage needs! IRIS also provided excellent customer service.
