Experience superb sonic clarity and accurate musical reproduction with this Premium S/PDIF (Toslink) Digital Optical Audio Cable from Monoprice! The Sony/Philips Digital Interface Format provides for a Digital Optical Audio signal, commonly referred to as Toslink. Toslink allows for the distribution of uncompressed 2-channel PCM audio or compressed multichannel audio, such as DTS or Dolby 5.1 or 7.1. Being an optical signal, Toslink is immune to problems that can plague electrical signals, such as crosstalk, magnetic interference, or radio frequency interference. This premium cable features a full-sized Toslink connector on each end, with metal connector heads and a metal mesh jacket. The metal jacket helps protect the cable from nicks, cuts, and kinks, which could cause damage to the internal optical fiber.

    I have had it for while and the black piece of the cable is loose since the glue that was holding the cable is dry. The black piece stays in the computer. It still works.

    6ft Premium Optical Toslink

    I ordered this cable in 2011, it lasted until recently 2021, but the plastic connector sleeve disintegrated inside of the female connector on my TV. Monoprice has honored the warranty and will replace the cable, which is presently not in stock.

    Very heavy and seemingly durable cable; excellent price. Had to wait a while for delivery. Works as expected. Protective caps are attached at each end, but I don’t anticipate using them because I just leAve the cable plugged in between my TV and sound bar.

    Beautiful, but over engineering produced a flaw

    This cable is beautiful and the tiny protective caps are great. They are attached, so they won't get lost. The problem I ran into was that the heads have a huge hard square piece that really gets in the way. I had bought it to replace an existing cable that was a bit too short, but the big square heads prevent this cable from plugging into my TV. It will start to go in, but can't lock in because the head catches around the TVs connector. I was able to use this cable in another location, but if your application has a tight connection area, then pass on this cable, or be ready to send it back.

    ...Never thought I'd go back to S/PDIF

    I haven't used one of these cords in well over 15yrs, but had to get one to test out why my audio was glitching on my PC via the HDMI cord... Luckily this S/PDIF fixed my audio issue, and now am sending the HDMI (picture) straight to my projector, while this S/PDIF (audio) cord goes to the receiver.

    Manufacturing or design defect for he 35 foot length

    Received 3. All had the same defect. The optical fiber does not sit flush with the optical connector, On one cable, it was flush on one end and 1./4" extended on the other. On the other cable, it was flush one end and extended 3/8" on the other. On the third cable, it was 1/8" extended on both ends., striaght out of the box. Returned them all for a refund. Monoprice customer service is outstanding , which is why I gave 3 stars, 1 for the product and 5 for customer service, I do not know if the shorter lengths are also problematic, just the 35 foot length. I also tried to push the fiber back in, like another review, but it just sprung back out.
