Expected Better
It could be a nice book shelf but the quality is not that great. I had to re-enforce the back with plywood because of the poor quality of the wood and the design of attaching the bottom part to the top part. It seemed a bit flimsy.

So Disappointed
I bought 2 black bookshelves with doors and one fully open. We have had Sauder furniture before and I worked in an office where I had a Sauder desk that I thought was beautiful. These shelves are so poorly constucted they are not worth the money. The backing on all 3 pieces looks absolutely awful. The backs come in a trifold. I suppose this is to make shipping easier. They look wavy and the seams show because the they are rough and the paper used to cover them is ragged. I had to use a lot of patience and a Sharpie to disguise it the best I could. I hope I can put enough books and interesting things on the shelves so that it will not be so noticeable. The seams on the doors are also terrible to look at and there will be no disguise. They don't meet well so each seam has a light line. The Sharpie trick isn't working so well. It looks like I will have to buy paint and a fine brush. The door stops are super cheap, no magnets here and nothing to prevent the inside of the door from becoming scarred. I bought and added a small furniture protector just prevent scarring and the sound of a banging door.

Very stylish bookcase for a good price. The cabinet drawers are the main selling point but can be a little tricky to get right. The only thing keeping it from being a 5 star review is that the shelves themselves can't really withstand heavier books for a long period of time. I had several heavier books on the middle shelf just above the cabinet thinking it was the strongest of the open shelves and I noticed it start to bow in the middle to the point where I couldnt close the cabinet drawer. I will probably have to go the hardware store to reinforce this shelf. This probably won't be an issue for your standard paperback collection but if you have several heavy hardcover books you might want to reinforce the shelving a bit.

Nice looking and Easy to Assemble
Took a bunch of items that were in boxes or cluttering my desk and got everything nicely presented and organized. Unit is sturdy and really helped make the room look like an office.

Great looking bookcases
These bookcases seem to be very good quality . We're very easy to assemble except door a little tricky but are working. I bought 3 and was damage in shipping. Called Saunders and the case was replaced as soon as I sent pictures showing damage. I highly recommend Sauders for great furniture at a great price

Bookcase w/doors on bottom
A little more difficult than several other pieces of furniture I put together. Having a little trouble w/aligning doors. One part was hanging off. Customer service offered to replace part but I'd have to take the whole thing apart. I'm looking into another way. Customer service is outstanding, so patient and helpful both times.The finished piece (other than one part) is beautiful and looks like much more expensive furniture. I have a piece of Sauder for decades that I passed on to my son. My parents also bought Sauder over the years. This is the first time I've had any problems at all. Not looking forward to having to move it since it's large and heavy (65 yr. old petite woman).

This is a nice, functional, well produced bookshelf
This bookcase is a cut above what one might expect for the amount of money it costs, and in comparison with its obvious competition from the likes of Ikea. The parts fit together well; the finished product looks good, and it is sturdy enough to do what it is designed to do, which is carry things like books. But what really sets this unit, and this company, apart is the quality, clarity, and intelligence of the instructions. They are clear. They are direct. They are easy to follow. The produce the result you need. The parts work the way that they are described in the instructions. I felt absolutely no frustration while putting this unit together, and that, in itself, is unusual. If you are looking for a functional and presentable bookcase, this one certainly qualifies.

I purchased three of these units for my children's rooms to store books and knick knacks. The assembly was easy. The doors were a bit hard to put together without hitting. Overall we are happy.

came together really well and looks really nice. build process was typical for these types of items. the instructions were very clear and easy to follow. the doors on the bottom are a bit thin, but look nice. i saw some reviews mentioning that they didn't come together well, but there are a lot of adjustments you can make. mine made noises when opening until i adjusted the back screws to move them a little outwards. now they're fine and symmetric.

Door Review
They hinges have these cut out circles. The hinges fit for one of my doors and not the other; so, I am unable to utilize the doors and have only open shelving. I purchased the product specifically for the doors.
