PetSafe Platinum Pet Fountain

Fountain is better than its predecessor but still has square angles that make it harder to clean. A minor annoyance is the noise of the valve when the reservoir is adding water to the bowl.

I’ve had it for a year. I clean it consistently, I maintain it like I should. And yet, now every single time I clean it, it floods. I take the time to make sure every piece is thoroughly cleaned, and the last couple of times it just floods. The tank empties completely and water gets everywhere. The last three times I have had to take it all apart (again) and put it back together to get it to work. This time I just don’t have the energy or time to spend 3 freakin hours doing so. There’s no reason it should be flooding. I hate this thing. Do NOT get it.

We received this Drinkwell a few weeks ago as a gift. I performed all the duties required and unfortunantly I cannot get the pump to work? I took it apart. Cleaned it. Put it back together and so far nothing? Any advice as to how or why the pump is not working would be appreciated?

The principle of the fountain is great, filtered water with a good-sized reservoir. Unfortunately, whoever designed it never tried to clean it. There are WAY TO MANY tight little corners, material intersections, that are practically impossible to adequately clean let alone access. I have to use a dull knife with paper towels at the end to try to reach some points, some places require using the twine of a fork. To do a proper job of cleaning takes about 1/2 hour, OR MORE, due to these design mistakes. On the good side, I have never had a motor fail, and my cat uses it. So that is good. But PLEASE Petsafe, re-design this product with cleaning ease in mind. I would like to recommend, but cannot due to the cleaning difficulty. Ratings are related to cleaning ease, not functionality.

Disappointed with pet fountain. Hard to clean with sharp edges and tricky spots. Had to buy a spcial cleaning kit. Design flaws make it a hassle. Not worth the price. Would like to see designers use it themselves.

Two of my cats love this water fountain, using it daily. One drinks from spout, the other from the bowl. It needs refilling daily to avoid noise. Cleaning is a bit tricky without tools. Considering upgrading to the platinum version a larger water reservoir.

After having the Original Drinkwell fountain -- I tried not one, but TWO of these. They leaked all over the floor. Back up reservoir was small. WHY did you DISCONTINUE the Original Fountain...???!!!!!!!!!!

I've owned Drinkwell fountains before and have never had issues, but this one has started leaking from the bowl. It seems that the mechanism that regulates the water flowing out of the reservoir has stopped working, and the water just comes right out and all over the floor.

I had to replace my fountain last year with the same one, since it was leaking. I noticed recently that the new one is also leaking. I checked for cracks & didn't see any. I also thought it could be the cat doing this. However it wasn't that either. Any ideas what this could be?

We’ve had this fountain for 6 years now. Still works like the day I set it up. Proper maintenance and by replacement filters are the key. Since we’re a single pet household, I clean the entire fountain, pump & reservoir on the first of the month. Every month a new carbon filter helps keep my cat healthy. His vet can testify.

Love this water fountain from Petsafe very easy setup and happy to know kitties are getting fresh filtered water

Sturdy fountain and pump is still working after 10 years. Needs washing every month, and dishwasher safe. Glad I bought it.

I have had the Drinkwell Platinum for years and it's worked great! My Kitty Winnie will not drink water out of a bowl, so I thought maybe she would drink out of a fountain. She drinks out of it several times a day. I can travel for a day or two and I know that Winnie will be taken care of with the fountain. And the reps I talk to at Petsafe are soooo friendly and helpful.

Fountain is to small for a 75# dog But you don't seem to sell any larger anymore.

My Maltese was not drinking enough water & but I noticed every time I turned on a faucet she wanted me to pick her up so she could drink from the running water. This solved the problem. She now drinks enough water and the filters keep it fresh.

I have had this fountain for years. As needed I have replaced various parts. I’m sure the motors would have lasted even longer if I hadn’t inadvertently allowed the water to run dry. The only downside, which is to be expected, is the plastic yellowing and being impacted by hard water. Highly recommend!
