Nine Stars 13gal Motion Sensor Rectangular Shape Stainless Steel Trash Can

I had ordered the 3 gallon size of this trash can on Amazon for my bathroom and loved it. When I saw that they had a 13 gallon size for my kitchen I immediately ordered it on Amazon. When I received it, to my shock, it had holes in the bottom of it. The 3 gallon size did not have holes in the bottom. I don't know on what planet a manufacturer of trash cans would think it’s a great idea to put holes in the bottom of a trash can that would attract bugs, not contain the odors, and would allow liquid to leak onto the floor if the bag were to get punctured. When I found the item on Target’s website, after speaking with NINESTARS customer Service they assured me that their product had no holes in the bottom. I was very excited because this is the only copper colored steel motion sensor 13 gallon trash can on the market. I made sure to ask the question again under this item’s description. A "brand expert” responded and said this: “A: Hi. No perforations in the steel shell or bucket. It's a fully enclosed container, nothing that would allow bugs to enter from underneath or sides. Hope this clears things up, Take care. Nine Stars Brand expert” They clearly don't know their own product or they lied. As soon as I opened it that was the first thing I checked and sure enough there are four holes that go straight through to the floor on the bottom of the trash can! I am so upset with this company. There is nothing good that will come from having holes in the bottom of a trash can. The entire purpose of a trash can is to contain the trash and odors, keep bugs out, and contain any spills if they were to happen. Holes in the bottom defeat the entire purpose of the concept. My family has owned a garbage disposal service for over 100 years and I have seen the horrors of what a poorly designed or faulty trash can will cause. Needless to say I am returning this! Buyer beware!! This is a joke of a company and product to do something like this!!! 🤬🤦🏽‍♀️😤👎🏽

It’s a nice looking trash can, but it opens at random times (kinda spooky) and often, it won’t close without manually pressing the button.

Lightweight, perfect size next to the kitchen cabinet. I can’t live without the automatic lid opener.

If I could rate it 0, I would. This is strictly a product- and Nine Stars customer service-review, nothing to do with Target. If anyone, a kid, a pet, bumps the lid while it's opening or closing the sensor will stop working as it did for me on day 5. In theory, it comes with a warranty and everything should be repairable/replaceable but Nine Stars makes sure that your warranty registration goes into an abyss and no amount of emailing or calling will go answered (toll-free number rings out and voice mailbox is full; emails not answered).

The lid gets stuck open. We replaced the batteries thinking maybe it was the problem but it's still staying open.

The lid wouldn’t fully close after like 2 weeks

When I finally received it and opened it up the sensor did not work after installing 2 different size D batteries, I called the number on the flyer and spoke with customer service. I was told I would have to file a claim? Seriously? Just got it! I ended up taking it back to the store. Will never order anything again from this company. Their customer service is awful! Target has been very helpful. It isn't them, it's the company that makes the product.

Had for over a month and still haven’t had an issues with the lid not closing. It looks nice and holds quite a bit of recycling/trash materials.

Sensor is responsive but not very accurate. Bin quality is below par for the price range. So it's a trade-off, comprising quality to add sensors.

Lid malfunctions after a few months. It partially opens and sometimes not at all. Looking across the market appears to be a very common problem. Either get a pedal or pay for quality.

This does NOT have a nonslip base as described, so I will be returning it, as I bought it solely for that feature. In fact, the bottom is very sharp and would easily scratch or tear my vinyl flooring. Very disappointing.

The can arrived in a timely manner, looked exactly like the photo and came together easily. Our only complaint is that the sensor is sensitive so the lid pops up whenever anyone is in the vicinity. That would be okay if it didn’t have a goofy noise that sounds like a Halloween gremlin. It’s a weird little growl that happens every time. I’m sure we’ll get used to it, but it is unsettling.

This is my 2nd one of these trash cans. I highly recommend. Your kids will want to use it, your pets will stay out of the trash and it’s sleek design is beautiful.
