Simple and Reliable
Very nice. It has an on/off switch in the back and takes 4 AA batteries. I like that the motion sensor isn’t overly sensitive—you just wave your hand over it to open, and then again to close it. It’s really quiet too. There’s no noise when it opens or shuts, and the lid fits tight and feels secure. It’s very lightweight, not bulky or in the way, and you can use any regular 13-gallon trash bag, no specific brand needed.

i've had this for over a year. no problems with the sensors, and changing bags is easy. but i've never had a trash can that holds stink like this one. any other plastic trash can i had, a quick antibacterial spray and leaving it to dry is fine. i have to bleach this and wipe every piece down regularly.

Do not recommend
Worked for over one year and then the sensor began malfunctioning. Now it’s a difficult bin to use as it has to be pried open and pushed closed.

Danaged on arrival
The package finally arrived a day later than expected. I opened it up to find it was dented badly in ice side. It could have been in transit or it was shipped to me knowing it was that way. Either way, I am not happy with this at all.

Loved it until I didn't
I have had this trash can for a few years and absolutely loved it at first! I found the motion sensor so convenient and it worked flawlessly for 2-3 years, then we began to have problems with the sensor malfunctioning, as other reviews have stated. It went from having occasional problems to now us having to use it as a manual trash can since it does not work at all anymore. So, while this trash can is great at first, just know it is something you could likely have to replace a few years in!

Unreliable and frustrating
We've had this bin for a few years now (slightly older design). It worked well for us for a while, but there were always times when the sensor would malfunction and stay open or would open and close sporadically. Now, it has completely lost its marbles. The sensor is unusable, we have to leave the lid cracked open and use it as a manual bin. We'll be buying a new step-open bin.

Less convenient than it sounds
Not as convenient as I originally anticipated: Sensor doesn’t always work, so that can be a slight annoyance. Also when hands are full, and you don’t have a hand to run past the sensor. I’m actually missing my old regular one that uses a foot pedal to open.
