A: yes, you have to move it to its slot, you will feel it slide into place. Just push it back until it clicks. you will love this piece..very well made

A: Ours had the same issue. The little slow close piston on the bottom in the back was leaning at the wrong angle and would slip off of the metal tab on the pole half of the time. It came like this from the store. Instead of returning, I wedged a piece of wood and some felt furniture pads to hold it straight up and down and now it slow closes every time.

A: We stuck some cardboard behind the piston at the bottom to hold it in place, and that seems to be working so far! A little annoying, but... you get what you pay for. It works just fine for us now, though. Happy with it for the price once we fixed that kink.

Q: I notice when I put my foot on the pedal, there is a clicking noise. I seem to remember it was quiet opening and closing. It seemed to make noise after I took the inner bin out to change the bag.

Q: The Lid does NOT close all the way. Is this a product defect? There is a 1/3 inch opening, which will make any trash inside smell up the kitchen.

Disappointed
Recently bought this Brightroom kitchen garbage can. Just took out the first filled bag and the plastic pail inside is already cracked at the top edge along the back. It didn't crack when I removed the garbage bag. Can't figure out how this happened. Did it crack when I put the bag in or was it already cracked when I bought it and didn't notice it? I would expect that it will crack more. And with this garbage can, you have to have that plasitc pail inside it. I wonder if I can get the plastic pail replaced because otherwise it's just fine.

Every single one is dented!
I’ve tried getting the slim and regular of these. I’ve had this shipped twice, I’ve tried purchasing in various stores three times, every single one is dented someplace! Or if you think you can live with the dent you find the lid is on crooked. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars for value and basic functionality.

The lid broke almost immediately. Standard 13 gallon bags don't fit. This can doesn't compare to the simple human products. You would be better off with a $10 plastic can that fits standard garbage bags.

Great trash can, when you can find a good one
Since the only place in my kitchen I can put a trash can is completely visible and in a walkway, I really liked this product because it’s narrow, opens on one end, and is visually appealing. So far, it seems to function well, and the opening mechanism seems sturdy enough. The main problem I have had with this product was finding one in the store that wasn’t dented or scratched in the first place! I went to five different Target stores before I found one that I could live with. Even then, when I got home, I found a small dent near the foot pedal that I didn’t see in the store. Am I going to keep it? Yes. It’s not that bad, but mostly because I don’t want to have to go through all of this again.

I was looking for a metal trash can since my dog was able to knock over my original one when I wasn’t home. I saw this on sale and decided to buy with little to no research.
