Heavy, Almost Assembled Out of the Box!
The dining table arrived nearly assembled, since the legs are fastened already by hinges. The only thing is that this weighs over 100 pounds, so it was extremely challenging to assemble the two slanted pieces at the bottom to keep the legs in place, as the legs easily move in and fold under the table without the two slanted pieces. Also, the extra screw was missing, but I had enough screws to assemble it fully. Because of the slanted pieces being the only thing keeping the hinged legs upright, I probably wouldn’t trust getting underneath the table during an earthquake or sinkhole event. It may be possible to hire a carpenter to fasten more hinges underneath, which could add to the sturdiness. The wood itself almost feels like solid wood. The top design isn’t as shown, as the wood lines differ slightly. The color is better looking in person, which is a medium dark brown with more ash-meets-caramel undertones (no red, no orange, no grey). I wanted a sturdy table to use as a gigantic desk in my bedroom, and for it to go with my new tolix-like chairs that I purchased from Target as well. They both work with the decor I have in my bedroom. I highly recommend this table for use as either a dining table for four or a desk for one. It is stylish and goes with either industrial or even bohemian decor.
