Your blood pressure naturally changes from moment to moment, and many devices take quick consecutive measurements and display both values in memory. Because of that, neither single reading is “officially” the one right number on its own, the most useful info comes from consistent readings over time or an average of multiple measurements taken when you’re relaxed and holding the monitor at heart level. In short: it’s normal for the first and second numbers to differ a bit, and averaging them (or checking at the same time each day) gives the most meaningful picture of your blood pressure.

A: Thank you for this information. I wanted to clarify that when I say 2nd reading, though the cuff is on my wrist the monitor does not take my pressure again ( no squeezing, no sound etc.). It just shows a different set of numbers. “As if” it tested me again. So I end up with 2 different results. Does that change your answer in any way?

A: Hi Jazelle, this product does only use batteries and does not use a plug in. You can use rechargeable AAA batteries, but they must be charged separately (the device itself does not recharge them).
