Tom's of Maine Antiplaque and Whitening Toothpaste - 4.5oz

Whatever you did, is now giving me mouth sores. Guess you added poison. Switching and sad.

I have ordered 3 packs of this (total of 6 paste), assuming this wont be "NewGreat Taste". I bought one "New Great taste" and its terrible, the taste is very bad and cannot use that anymore. I ordered this (hoping this wont be "NewGreat taste" but leaving the review for the newer version here.

The new formula and taste of this toothpaste is disgusting. I have a rare genetic disease which prevents me from ingesting any form of sugar, natural or substitute. This added ingredient xylitol/stevia makes me sick to my stomach and I can't get the artificial sweet chemical taste out of my mouth. So dissatisfied and disappointing to be blindsided by this gross formula. Give us back the old version, nobody likes the added sugar and chemical taste. Where's the pepermint? I will be requesting a refund and looking for a new brand not affiliated with Colgate

Mason here of Iowa: I have been a devout consumer of Tom's fluoride-free peppermint toothpaste since I joined the workforce roughly 13 years ago. While purchasing a routine dual pack recently, I opened a new tube to begin using. My first thought upon brushing: this new tube must be rancid. I continued to use, thinking perhaps only the toothpaste near the opening was bad. However, I would then notice the NEW GREAT TASTE verbiage and compare against an older tube I still have in my travel pack. Then, I realized the change in ingredients. As a consumer, I don't know anything about ingredient sourcing, though I wonder if it would be convenient and ethical to bring back sodium lauryl sulfate and sodium bicarbonate to replace the newly added lauryl glocoside / disodium cocoyl glutamate / rebaudioside A / sodium hydroxide. In addition to the drop in taste quality, I notice the texture is off-putting. While I enjoyed the foamy body of the original, the new soupy product tends to fall out of my mouth immediately. It could be operator error, though I must trust my immaculate hygiene and home care history. I reckon I have roughly one month left of my old good supply, and then I will consider other fluoride-free toothpastes out there. You have my contact information with this review. The new formula is awful. It tastes artificial and chalky and no one in our family will use it now after being loyal customers for 25 years. So disappointing that we have to find a new toothpaste now. We just bought a two pack, can’t use it and are out the $ and out of luck.

I have used this toothpaste since the 90s. I recently purchased my usual 2 pack and brushed my teeth. Immediately noticed a difference and looked at the tube. New Flavor? Why are we messing with a formula that has worked for decades?? There were many loyal customers that enjoyed the non sweetened minty flavor. Now that is covered by sickly sweet Stevia. I could get that in a cheap toothpaste. Now I guess I'm going to have to find a new brand.

I bought four tubes of this because it was on sale at my local pharmacy - finally opened a new tube today, and it tastes AWFUL. It tastes like fake sweetener - I made a loud enough upset sound that my cat trotted in to the bathroom to see if I needed him to fight a bug. What a frustrating and expensive waste. I've been buying this for years, and I can't use it anymore. and now I have 4 full tubes that I can't do anything with.

I have used this toothpaste for years and LOVED it! But they recently changed the formula & the taste is just too strong - slightly burns & tastes like brushing with straight peppermint oil. I find myself having to rinse & spit to get it all out of my mouth for several minutes after brushing my teeth. I would really love if y’all brought back the old formula❤️ Would not recommend the new formula.

The „new and improved“ flavor is awful. I am so sorry that I bought a multipack. I have used Tom‘s for many years. Please bring back the original formula!

The taste has changed it no longer taste like peppermint has a terrible aftertaste will not be purchasing again.

Total disappointment, taste, after breath bad . We have been using Toms peppermint for years and now we have to look for alternatives, bring it back we the consumers should have a choice . Right now I sitting writing this email after brushing my teeth my breath is awful. Also it’s viscosity is thick in viscosity.

I’ve been using this toothpaste for about 20 years. Loved the fresh natural peppermint flavor. The new formula tastes terrible and I hate stevia. Who did the focus groups on this?? Time to find a new toothpaste 😞

I recently purchased the Antiplaque & Whitening Peppermint toothpaste. To my dismay the flavor tasted horrible. I have been buying this toothpaste for as long as I can remember. I always thought of it as a quality product. When I saw on the tube "New Great Taste" I literally said "says who????" There is no hint of Peppermint whatsoever. I can't even describe the yucky taste. Why oh why did you change the flavor?? Tom's, in the last plus year discontinued my other favorite toothpaste. Thus, I have moved on to a different toothpaste company. Please don't change your bar soap or deodorant or I will be moving on from your company altogether. A very sad customer. (PS, If I could have given it zero stars I would have.)

Hate the "new 'great' taste". I like the original flavor exactly because it's not very sweet. This new flavor not only is sweeter, but the sweet taste lingers. AND it's the taste of stevia, which I also abhor. Unfortunately I just got a 3-pack - when they are finished, I'm afraid I'll have to abandon my long-time favorite toothpaste. Sad!

I have been using and loving Tom’s of Maine toothpaste for years. It is clean, minty and refreshing and no extra or added ingredients all natural. Always the best!

I've used this toothpaste for 20 years and now Colgate has "improved" the flavor. They are literally known for this toothpaste. Leave it to Colgate to ruin a good thing. This is about cost savings-- "how to we remove peppermint oil and replace it with some cheaper ingrendients?". Tastes like sweet spearmint and chemicals now. JUNK. Returning this and looking at other brands now, first time in 20 years. Thanks!

They have changed the recipe and it is HORRIBLE now! It tastes just like any other Colgate toothpaste. EW! They should have put, “new gross taste”.

I bought a tube of the new Tom's Toothpaste approximately a week ago and the new flavor is terrible. I hope that Tom's gets enough complaints to change the taste back. It has a weird sweetness and nothing minty and fresh. I'm very disappointed as I have been using this toothpaste for years and am not looking forward to finding a new toothpaste.

I've always used this because it was the only toothpaste I'm not allergic to. Whatever they changed with the "new great taste" not only tastes awfully sweet, it's also caused a reaction now. Unfortunately, I'll have to finally find a new brand.

The new formula is horrible. I threw away the tube because I couldn't finish it. The flavor is sweet now and gunky with stevia. I've been using this toothpaste for years--wouldn't buy anything else. Now I need to find a new toothpaste. Please please please switch back to the original formula.
