A: This life jacket is made up of Polyethylene Fiber, Polyester, and Spandex. It does not have a mesh lining, the same material is used outside/inside/all around.

Q: How long are the straps supposed to be? I bought one and when it is on the straps reach the ground. Way too long. Hopefully this is just one that wasn’t made right so I can reorder one

A: There are couple sets of straps. One set goes around the torso and those shouldn't hit the ground. The other set goes from the back of the vest thru the legs to the front of the vest. Those could possibly hit the ground if not attached properly

Beware!
Bought this for my almost 3 year old. He has been wearing the Speedo life jacket that wraps around his chest and has floats on bilateral arms which is coast guard approved. I thought I could graduate him to this kind since we are frequently on a boat and this would be safer. Absolutely not, his first attempt in the water caused him to float level with the water surface but just below so at first he was on his back with his head, nose and mouth under water and then he was able to flip himself over but then his face was completely submerged underwater. He has become a very strong swimmer with the other varieties of life jackets that I mentioned before but that didn't matter with this jacket. I'm so glad I was right there to help him because he wouldn't have been able to right himself in deep water otherwise.

The label is wrong. It says it's 33-55 lbs but they give you 30-50 lbs life jackets. If you're looking for a jacket that is right on the edge of the 2 sizes, don't get this!

I got this for my 2.5 year old son to use at the lake but it isn’t effective. He weighs about 35 pounds so that is not the issue but he jumped into the lake and went straight to the bottom!!! This does not prevent kids from sinking, 0/10 do not recommend if your child cannot swim at all

The description for this best says it is for a 30-55lb child. My child is 49 pounds so I thought I would get a year or two out of this vest. Just opened it up and while it’s very soft to the touch and cute, printed right inside of the vest it says 30 to 50 pounds. That’s a 5 pound difference on the upper limit. I have to return this and start again.

Irritating straps
While it does a good job of keeping kids afloat the straps that go under the legs created rashes and irritation for my child. Obviously if you loosen them it doesn’t keep afloat as well.

THE REVIEWS ARE TRUE -- CAUSES BAD RASH
I’m very disappointed with this life jacket. After only one use, both of my twins developed painful rashes in multiple areas. They had red, irritated skin in their armpits, on their inner thighs where the straps rubbed, and on the bottom of their cheeks. What’s frustrating is that both of my children fall well within the weight limits specified for this life jacket. The jackets weren’t too big on them, and the straps were adjusted properly—not too tight at all. Despite the correct fit, the material or design still caused severe skin irritation. I expected a product like this to be safe and comfortable for kids, but this was not the case. I would not recommend this life jacket, especially if your children have sensitive skin.

Great for boys!
Super cute, my 18-month-old son loves it! I see what other reviews mean, though, about the crotch straps hurting their daughters. I think this design is great for a boy with swim trunks on but I can see how it could end up hurting a girl with just a little swimsuit on. This works great for us, though, & will be keeping it. ☺️
