Inaccurate Outside Temperature
Got it as a Christmas gift and installed it just as the book says. As the sun comes up the outside temperature will be inaccurate. It reads 6 to 8 degrees higher than the manual thermometer I have installed on the same wooden pole. The fans are running but will not keep the temperature accurate on sunny days. To keep sensor in the ope to collect rain and nothing blocking the wind, there is no way to block the sun off of it. So basically it’s a rain gauge and wing gauge only. Can’t depend on outside temperature.

Connected to Wunderground in 10 Minutes
Have been interested in meteorology since, well, for a long time. Used to bug the guys at the local Weather Bureau office in Pomona, CA, weekly when I was in the 4th grade -built my own "station" on stilts in the back yard ... home-made "wet bulb hygrometer" and all. Flip forward a half-century (ok, 55 years), and AcuRite offers Stations like this that - within 10 minutes of opening the box - have you up and running, reporting your weather data to Wunderground - wirelessly. The name, AcuRite," is synonymous with quality. I have owned a few of their products over the years. This kit will be making me quite pleased for years to come.

Acurite Iris
This replaced the Acurite Notos that my wife got for me in 2014. That lasted for 8 years in northwest N.D. So far the Iris has met all expectations. I've only had it up about 3 weeks but it is working as it should.

Gifts
The two I bought are to be gifts. I already have one of the Iris weather stations that has been going strong for, I think, 3 years. The only problem I had was that one of the boxes was ripped before it was packed in the shipping box and will not look very good as a gift. I won't find out if they work until after Christmas but I am not too worried about it.
