Heavy Scent
Item was sprayed with heavily scented perfume. It was a drive up pick up so didn’t realize until after we were home. Only one available for miles, probably why it was still available. Should have been removed from inventory. Very disappointed as I wanted to pack this for an upcoming trip and now I am unsure since it literally stinks so bad…and so strong. And with this being a kids item I don’t want him smelling that while wearing it. Yuck.

3 year old taught herself to swim with this
My three-year-old is obsessed with this! We are on our second summer with it, and she can swim all by herself. I love that she is safe but still has the freedom to play. We have had zero issues with chafing. It fits perfectly over her regular bikinis and her zip-up bodysuits. It is super secure with the buckles and zipper, so she can't escape. Try this before you try anything else!

Beware!
Bought this for my almost 3 year old. He has been wearing the Speedo life jacket that wraps around his chest and has floats on bilateral arms which is coast guard approved. I thought I could graduate him to this kind since we are frequently on a boat and this would be safer. Absolutely not, his first attempt in the water caused him to float level with the water surface but just below so at first he was on his back with his head, nose and mouth under water and then he was able to flip himself over but then his face was completely submerged underwater. He has become a very strong swimmer with the other varieties of life jackets that I mentioned before but that didn't matter with this jacket. I'm so glad I was right there to help him because he wouldn't have been able to right himself in deep water otherwise.

The label is wrong. It says it's 33-55 lbs but they give you 30-50 lbs life jackets. If you're looking for a jacket that is right on the edge of the 2 sizes, don't get this!

I got this for my 2.5 year old son to use at the lake but it isn’t effective. He weighs about 35 pounds so that is not the issue but he jumped into the lake and went straight to the bottom!!! This does not prevent kids from sinking, 0/10 do not recommend if your child cannot swim at all

The description for this best says it is for a 30-55lb child. My child is 49 pounds so I thought I would get a year or two out of this vest. Just opened it up and while it’s very soft to the touch and cute, printed right inside of the vest it says 30 to 50 pounds. That’s a 5 pound difference on the upper limit. I have to return this and start again.

Irritating straps
While it does a good job of keeping kids afloat the straps that go under the legs created rashes and irritation for my child. Obviously if you loosen them it doesn’t keep afloat as well.
