Q: Is the Brightroom storage bin safe for storing food ?

A: Hi Elizabeth! The 7 Qt. Storage Bin is made of Polypropylene plastic, and was designed for general household use. Sterilite only uses high quality FDA food safe grade plastics that are non-toxic. These plastics do not contain PVC's, Latex, Teflon, Phthalates chemicals, fungicides, Bisphenol A (BPA), or antibacterial chemicals. Nor do we use them in the manufacturing process of our items. I ordered 4 of these but only received 3 lids. I don’t have time to go and pick up the lid that they missed. It would be nice if they just sent me the missing top for this container.

I typically love brightroom bins but the first time I ordered this bin it arrived at my house broken with chunks missing. I had to return it to the store. My app said my closest store had it in stock but when I went they didn’t have any. I ordered more online and those arrived all with the wrong size lid. The lids are noticeably too small and fit inside the bin with room to spare. I talked to customer service who said they couldn’t do anything until I return the item to the store or ship it back. I ordered online for convenience and because I thought it was a good value but now it’s been multiple trips to the store and still no bins. Order online at your own risk.

This bin is thick material. The clear color allows for visibility. The snap closers work well and do not break easily. The insect lid allows for easy stacking for storage purposes with multiple bins. This is a great product.

The 7qt storage bin serves its purpose! I like to use this size to store shoes on my closet shelves, but the bin could certainly serve other functions. In the past, I’ve used these as craft bins for my children’s art supplies. They work well for holding crayons, markers, etc. and stack well on shelves. The two ends both have latches that are secure, but not too difficult for a child to open.
