I rarely return items I purchase online because I read the description carefully; however, I had to return this unit. First, the description said the shelves were adjustable. In reality, the shelves could only be placed where the upright posts came together. The second reason I returned this unit is that it was very flimsy and I doubt it would have stood up under any load, even though the description said it could hold 110 pounds per shelf. I have purchased several metal shelving units from Target for my kids' college dorm rooms and never had a complaint about any of them. Those units were much sturdier and the shelves were adjustable. The description for this unit needs to be updated to correctly describe the unit.
