Tasty tinned trout

Another Fishwife delight! This is the third item I've tried from Fishwife and all have been decadent and worth the splurge. I don't think that I have had tinned smoked trout before but this trout is very flavorful and excellent in pasta dishes. Compared to the sardines and smoked mackerel, the trout are thinner filets but still meaty and have a nice flaky texture, and it is easy to see that they are carefully packed in their tins. This is a mild fish and a great one to try if someone is new to tinned fish and looking to branch out into other fish varieties

Extremely salty

The last tin I had was the mackerel, I thought that was a bit salty but still edible. I opened the trout today. It is beyond salty that I cannot even eat it. I’m genuinely surprised this has so many high ratings. Two different cans of this brand and I think that’s all I’ll spend my money on. The tins are expensive enough to try that I can’t see myself buying other flavors to try when two have been misses due to the overly salty flavor.

As luxurious as a can of fish can be

I'm a big fan of tinned fish and I am familiar with this brand already but have never tried their smoked trout before. I'm glad I did because this was delicious. It is rich, unctuous with a light smokey, umami flavor. It is a bit dry but that is common with smoked foods. I also thought it was almost too rich straight out of the tin and needed an acid to cut some of that richness. So I served this trout on a sub roll with some red wine vinegar, plenty of the oil from the tin, thinly sliced onion and a smoked hot sauce. It didn't need anything else. It was very good. Highly recommend. I received an incentive to write this review.

Respectfully, the cost of this can of fish is absolutely bonkers. Sure it’s good, but I’d need probably 10 of these to serve my family a meal, and they’d still be complaining they are hungry afterwards. This tastes like ham and is packaged in a way that reminds me of cat food. That said, the label is cute and I am a sucker for marketing. If this were like half its price it would be worth it and I’d buy again. I received an incentive to write this review.

This smoked trout had a great flavor to it! Mixed with pickles it was a really tasty treat. The Packaging is really cute and trendy and the meat is packed in oil. The meat was the texture of tuna but tasted better. It wasn’t as fishy as I expected and it’s a great high protein low carbohydrate choice. If you like smoked salmon you would probably like this too. I’ve only ever tried sardines in a tin so I was pleasantly surprised these came this way. I received an incentive to write this review.

Another Fishwife hit! Delicious and Smokey

My family and I love all the fishwife products, but this was my first time trying the rainbow trout. High quality big pieces of fish with a perfectly flaky texture — not mushy. Flavor is rich and smoky (like good bacon), mild and not overly “fishy”. Mixed it with some scallion cream cheese for a delightful dip with crackers, but would be great with deviled eggs/egg salad or on a sandwich with lettuce and tomato. Will be adding this to our rotation — another fishwife fave! I received an incentive to write this review.

3 fish loving boys take on trout

This smoked rainbow trout was delicious. My husband was pleasantly surprised how yummy this fish was. He said it would taste good on a bagel with cream cheese. He shared it with my sons 4 years and almost 1 whom devoured the fish along with him. The only downside is that it is not the cheapest tin of fish for the amount given. The fish was very moist and didn’t have a very strong smell which was a plus for me as a bystander. I received an incentive to write this review.

THE MOST DELISH

I can't believe how good this trout is. It's so easy to throw in my bag on my way out - and I'm the envy of all my coworkers! So buttery and flavorful -- with a fabulous smoky finish.

It has a subtle smoky flavor and a melt in your mouth texture and definitely is not overly dry like many tinned fish products. the packaging is pretty which pulls you in but the flavor and quality will keep me coming back. Great quality fish brand.

My husband has become such a big fan of this company. You definitely get what you pay for in the quality of their fish and added ingredients. This rainbow trout was no different. Although he likes their flavored fish options, this fish still tasted great. The texture had a delightful feeling while chewing. The packaging is eye catching and has looked great in gift baskets.
