Tom's of Maine Antiplaque and Whitening Toothpaste - 4.5oz/3pk: Vegan, Gluten-Free, Peppermint, Calcium Carbonate

“New great taste” is awful compared to the original. Bring back original flavor please!

I’ve been using Tom’s for years, so it came as an unwelcome surprise that they changed it. This new formula doesn’t taste as good as the previous version. Not sure why they changed it, but I’ll be looking into other brands moving forward.

Adding to the many comments about the new flavor in hopes that Tom's will get wind of all the complaints and change it back to the old kind! My kids and I were used to the previous recipe and loved it. Seriously, it was the best tasting toothpaste and actually made your mouth feel naturally clean. Now it just tastes like sweet overload. I don't want to taste sugar when I brush my teeth. I want to brush knowing that my mouth is getting clean. That's how it felt when I used the old toothpaste - baking soda clean, foams beautifully, and perfectly refreshing mint. This new stuff doesn't leave your tongue feeling fresh and hardly foams either. It tastes like you're taking a bite out of overly sweetened spearmint candy. Really hope Tom's changes it back. *lightbulb* Maybe I'll have my kids write to them as a homeschool assignment!

I don't know who tested and approved the change of the formula but I hate it. I've been using Tom's for over decade and now I'll have to find a new brand. It tastes artificially sweet for no reason. It doesn't taste like real peppermint. Might as well buy Crest or a more commercial brand. Yuck!

This is terrible.When I used the original product in was the best.Now it's the worst.Change it back!!!

I started using Tom’s after graduation. My wife and I started using Tom’s after we got married. Our kids started using Tom’s once they were ready to. It’s over 12 years. We are all upset now. As you already know from here and other merchandise websites, this is a bad decision to change the flavor! It is not too late to change it back before we switch to another brand.

We have used this product for nearly twenty years and have always been pleased. It occasionally separated a little, but we expected this of a natural product. This new formula has an unpleasant flavor and texture and a terrible aftertaste. Change it back!

REALLY, REALLY dislike the "improved flavor!" VERY disappointed as I have used (and loved) the peppermint flouride free toothpaste for years! It really didn't need to change. Loved it how it was. Now more spearment like in my opinion- and I don't even know how to describe it. But awful to me!

DISGUSTING FLAVOR FLUORIDE FREE - make a new one for other customers and guarantee your original taste to never change unless we asked for it. Gag worthy, definitely toxic tasting and will never purchase again. 20+ years of never changing and now you play with us? Stop your greed now - return to the original flavor. Amazing how SO MANY ADDITIONS TO THE INGREDIENTS DOESNT CHANGE IT???

I have been using this toothpaste for over a year and loving it. Unfortunately this “great new taste” is new, but definitely NOT great. It tasted like it had been sweetened with Splenda. Very bad. If the recipe doesn’t go back to the previous one, I will have to start buying a new brand.

I have been using this Tom’s of Maine Antiplaque and Whitening Toothpaste for years. What did you do to the new formula??? It is terrible.!!! The taste is awful and the consistency is so watery now it pours out of my mouth while I am brushing my teeth with my electric toothbrush. If you look at all the recent remarks most of them agree, this new formula is awful. It is going in the trash and unless you go back to the original flavor and consistency, I am going to start using another brand.

I have been using Toms Fluoride-Free Antiplaque & Whitening Peppermint Natural Toothpaste for years and it worked great. What did you do to this toothpaste?? The flavor is not the same and the consistency of the toothpaste is really watery and different now. I am so disappointed in why you changed a product that was great before.

Tastes and works just fine to me. I especially like it that I don’t get an allergic reaction from it like I do with all other large brands of toothpaste. What I don’t like are the way smaller tubes for the same price.

Please change back to the old ingredients and flavor. The "New Great Taste" is horrible!!! Why did you change the original ingredients? I see you are getting bad reviews and will lose a lot of customers!

The “new great taste” is far from it. I don’t think I can even finish the tube it tastes so artificial. Why change a wonderful product? Not everything needs to be made “great”…

I’ve been using the fluoride free peppermint toothpaste for such a long time and have been so happy with it I wouldn’t even consider using another toothpaste, until now. The new “great” taste is horrible. I hope you go back to the original recipe because I won’t buy the new formula again. I just chucked the 2 tubes I bought in the garbage. If I could give it zero stars I would have.

I have been a loyal Tom's customer for at least the past 5 years. I was so happy when I found this toothpaste and always had loved the simple ingredients and the taste of the toothpaste. When I ran out this past week, I went to the store and bought another 2 pack like clockwork. However, upon trying the new formula, I was shocked. It now tastes very synthetic, almost like a piece of sugar-free gum that leaves that phony sweet taste in your mouth. I was so sad and disappointed. I've seen so many other users say the same thing, so I beg you, please go back to the old formula! I'd really hate to have to find a new brand of toothpaste, yet if this formula stays, I'll be forced to. If anything, continue to offer the classic version (clearly marked) and then this new version. I bet you'll then see the classic will blow the sales of the other away by a long shot!

Like another reviewer said, I never write reviews, but I was so dismayed when I used this NEW GREAT TASTE tube--it was legitimately horrible. The old formula was the best and beat every toothpaste brand, but this new one is up there with the worst. Left mouth feeling worse...not like the fresh feeling of the original. I am returning and looking for alternatives. Please bring back the original formula!

This new formula is TERRIBLE!!! Ive used this type of Tom's for years and always loved it...but these changes were at once noticed and hated by my kids and me. The new flavor is sickly sweet and leaves a bad aftertaste! It's also SUPER thin and watery now too, can't hardly keep it from dripping out of your mouth. I request that Tom's IMMEDIATELY get rid of this new formulation and go back to the old flavor and texture...otherwise you'll have lost LOTS of life long customers..myself and my kids for sure!!

I had been using toms peppermint toothpaste every single day for years. I've appreciated the stability the consistent flavor has given me over the years. Yet, when I picked up my grocery pickup last night and noticed the bold label declaring a "great new taste" I was apalled. It is bitter, tart, crunchy, pungent, gross, and just not great.
