A: The best gauge for a proper fit, aside from any recommendations made by a healthcare provider, is how high your baby sits in the carrier. Our Monarch carrier can be used once baby is tall enough for at least the middle of their ear to be above the head panel. We find the safest fit occurs around 9lbs minimum. This ensures baby's face is positioned high enough for you to monitor their airway. If needed, you can raise the placement of the waistband on your body to give your baby a little extra lift above the head panel. Physical and mechanical testing for the US requires specific weights be published with the carrier, so your carrier may say 7-35lb. or 9-45lb. Whichever your carrier's warning tag states is what it was tested to, but the guidance for both is the same: the middle of baby's ear should be at or above the top of the panel when worn.
