Fantastic flavor and texture!
Absolutely phenomenal. I mixed the cinnamon sugar right into the batter (trying to reduce the steps because I was baking with a toddler) and replaced half of the melted butter with a mashed banana. Turned out delicious, perfectly sweet, and moist. I made 9 larger muffins.

it's just ok
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] it was hard to make this because even though it's advertised as vegan, it doesn't have vegan baking instructions. I used what I thought was a good substitute but it came out dry. it's difficult to put the layer of cinnamon in the middle because there's not a lot of batter or topping. it seemed to burn even though I followed the instructions for baking exactly. it smelled good and overall good flavor but was dry.

Dry with little to no flavor. It realized after baking that it was sugar free, which made it very bland.

Sweet morning treat!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We opted for the pan version of the recipe. Overall it’s a lot sweeter than we thought it would be so if you are sensitive to sugar be mindful. We love the clean ingredients and the kids loved a snack in the morning. My toddler did overmix ours but it’s part of the fun of baking! Overall, we’ll buy as a pantry snack for our kiddos to have on occasion.

Simple Mills has embraced "Shrinkflation"
Three stars for taste and quality only. My gripe with Simple Mills as of 2026 is that they have fully embraced “Shrinkflation.” Their muffin mixes barely have enough dough, if enough. This muffin mix was no exception, as I found it didn’t have enough dough once things were mixed. Therefore my muffins turned out very small. Its become a trend with all SM muffin mixes and its truly frustrating. On another note, this mix is not a dump and go. There are steps to it so just an FYI.

I followed the directions for cake and it came out looking delicious. However it was quite dry and salty tasting. I did use salted butter (my fault) but I still felt like it lacked flavor. I wouldn’t buy again, but I do think it would be much more palatable if you used oil or unsalted butter.

Worth every penny

You have to layer the cinnamon crumb in between the batter and then sprinkle it on top and it’s surprisingly not too cinnamon-y. The cake part is sooo fluffy and taste so good. I followed the ingredients exactly and it came out perfect. I live in high elevation and didn’t have to change anything. This recipe calls for 1/2 C of butter or oil which to me is a lot. I tried to only put in 1/3 C but you really need 1/2 to make the batter right. I was surprised at how much butter you needed, but it came out delicious! These are perfect for breakfast

Perfect texture, not too sweet, but had just enough sweetness with the extra 1/3 cup Greek yogurt added and the 2 tsp of honey. Would definitely make again. I love that there are no additives.

The portions were good and it wasn’t too sweet (my friends actually wanted it to be sweeter!). However, something seems to be lacking, a wow factor. If someone offered me this i’d probably have a bite but it’s not something I’d crave.
