Q: I finish of the wood seems to be neither bare, nor finished. Is bare? Or is there a light gritty finish that would need to be sanded down - and difficults with all the circles.

    Expected more!

    The color is a little darker than advertised but worked well within our space. Was worried about all the negative shipping reviews especially when fedex delivered and dropped it. Luckily all was OK until I noticed the quality defects...at this price point, I expected better. Hanging mechanisms are also a bit of a pain although they make for a sturdy/no movement.
