They are not “water-proof” as in prevent water from going through the rug, but the fibers and construction of this rug are used for outdoor use, so fine to have outside and in the sun (will resist sun fading). Also, these rugs will not mold, however, if water stays trapped underneath the rug for a long time, mold may form on the ground surface (deck, concrete).
