Q: how does the slow release work?

A: Dear Ann. The operation instructions are as follows. Lowering the shade: Simply grasp the handle on the center of the bottom rail and pull the shade down to the desired length and release. Raising the shade: Grasp the handle on the center of the bottom rail, pull it down about 1/2 an inch and quickly release. The shade will automatically rise to the top.
