Description

With a simple yet modern design, the Dusk curtain rod is the perfect way to complement your curtains or drapes without drawing attention away from them. The sleek look and finish of Dusk is a decorator’s dream because it works with a wide variety of decorative styles and color palettes. If you’re looking to block out as much light as possible with a black out window curtain then you’re going to love the Dusk curtain rod. It’s innovative wrap-around design helps prevent light leakage by allowing your curtain panel to rest flush against the wall. When it comes to curtain rods, quality construction counts and Dusk doesn’t disappoint. Unlike cheaply made rods that tend to bend or warp over time, each Dusk curtain rod from Loft by Umbra is made of high-quality metal and individually checked for quality assurance. The result is a front drapery rod with a 5/8 inch diameter that is sturdy and designed to support a variety of window fashions, including light to medium weight curtains with a max weight of 22 lbs. Thanks to its telescoping capabilities, each Dusk rod will fit a variety of window sizes and is ideal for room darkening curtains for bedrooms, living rooms or any room.

Q: Is there an anchor included to provide support in the middle? Or does that need to be purchased separately?

  • A: I bought the smaller size and it did not come with (nor did it need) a support in the center.

submitted byFarian - 6 years ago
  • A: Yes, the longer size does include a center support.

Q: How do you remove the curtains for washing once the rod is affixed to the wall?

submitted by HelpPlease - 7 years ago
  • A: The rod screws into the brackets on either side (like a toilet paper holder, only it screws in). Once you screw the brackets into the wall, you leave them alone. To remove the curtain, with your hand you unscrew the rod from the bracket on the right side, telescope the rod in by moving it to the left, and pull your curtain off. To put it back together, you just telescope the rod back to mate up with the bracket, and screw it back in with your hand.

Q: Will I be happy with this product if I am using them with room darkening / noise insulating curtains? In other words, do they wrap around the sides effectively?

submitted by Jazz Hands - 6 years ago
  • A: I bought it for the same reason. It works great for me. I would say the only thing that might affect would be if you have an east facing window that more light would get through due to the fact that it does extend out from the window a bit. Light could potentially shine in above. My solution to hiding light hitting the ceiling was mounting the rod above the window several inches and used a longer cutrtain.

submitted byHekunst - 6 years ago
  • A: Yes. We used Deconovo fleece lined grommet drapes (heavy), and the rod never bent, was sturdy, and the right clearance so that the curtain hugged the window and sides. Helped tremendously with a bedroom with a very cold window /draft in winter time.

Q: What is the dimension between screw holes?

submitted by Mariana - 6 years ago

  • A: it is 1 9/16 inches from the top screw hole to the bottom one measured center to center

Great rod but install is a challenge

3 out of 5 stars
S E - 24 days ago
The rod itself is fine but I will NEVER understand how manufacturers constantly choose to put the screw holes in positions that make it hard for a drill to reach. You almost have to drill the screw in at an angle to clear the brackets. Bad design. If the screw holes were just a quarter inch further apart, that would help.

Great Rod for blocking Side Light

5 out of 5 stars
Would recommend
Chickette - 1 month ago
This rod is easy to install. After measuring where I wanted it, it took about 10 minutes to put up. I also like the French style allowing the curtains in the bedroom to reach all the way to the wall, blocking out the “side light.” I liked them so much that I have ordered them multiple times and recommend them for people who want to cut out as much light as possible. The only downside (which is indicative of this style is rod) is that you need to unscrew one side from a bracket and slide over slightly to load the curtains. I use the rings from Target as well though and they are quicker and easier to slide the curtain panels on.

The longer size comes with the center hook support. These do come with its own hardware. However, it’s quite obvious you need to use the preferable anchors for your own type of walls. IE the ones it came with are very minimally short, and can only be used in wood with light curtains. I however, bought my own hardware set that can hold over 50LBS. Just THICKER BIGGER anchor sets, and hung up some very heavy layered curtains with no issue. People saying that they come apart.. are definitely not tightening the rods correctly or not reading instructions. A tip for installing the curtains onto the rod by yourself.. I slipped mine on to the larger end of the installed rod (after tightening it in to the base, then you take the smaller nesting rod to slip it into the the larger rod.. slip the curtains onto the whole rod you are holding up.. slide to the tightened end, then you can rest the loose end on top of the mounted-base that’s on the wall, letting you switch hands to tighten that rod without losing curtains or grip! I was afraid that the smaller 24-48 inch set wouldn’t fit over my 49” gap- but it can hold & fit a maximum 53 inches.

Great curtain rods, terrible hardeare

the curtain rod does seem to provide a little bit of extra coverage which I found to be super helpful since I was putting up blackout curtains. the only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because the drywall anchors were useless. I've put up plenty of curtains in the past and used my own anchors I got at a hardware store and never had issues. I used the ones included in the packaging this time and as soon as I'd put up the curtains I could tell the brackets were already loose. rather than wait for them to eventually fall out of the wall, I went to the hardware store and bought my own drywall anchors and had no issues moving forward. would definitely buy again but would use different drywall anchors and not bother with the junk they included. everything turned out fine but was just a little annoying to add an extra errand to my day

Screws are too short

These rods seem OK, but they come with unacceptable 1 inch screws. The rods I just took down had one and a half inch screws. No way you’re going to mount these into a stud behind drywall with 1 inch screws (a very standard installation method). So beware, if you buy this and won’t/can’t use the anchors you will immediately have to buy longer screws.

We understand your concern about the length of the screws provided. We will review our product packaging and consider including longer screws to accommodate different installation needs. I have been trying and trying to get this rod to work since it was already out of the box so I couldn't return it. This rod just will not work. The middle part doesn't stay together, even with plenty of room the two pieces keep finding a way to come apart. The rod is very flimsy also and can't handle more than sheer, lace curtains. Overall, very displeased with this purchase. Not fit for real, useful curtains.

Instructions missing vital information

4 out of 5 stars
Would recommend
xanderxiv - 7 months ago, Verified purchaser
Curtain rod quality isnt bad and looks nice but the instructions are missing vital information. Tells you to use a 1/4 in drill bit for pilot holes but thats assuming you use the included dry wall anchors, which are not required for screwing into a stud, the instructions do note that anchors may not be necessary with pictures showing as such but they do NOT tell you what drill bit to use to pilot just the screws without the anchors. We tried to guess but the holes were too big and we had redrill with the size for the anchors and used those even though we were in a stud.
