Q: What is NPK of the Sta Green Potting Mix?

submitted by Linda - 5 months ago
  • A: Hi Linda! While we can't provide the exact NPK (nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium) values for Sta-Green's Potting Mix, Back to the Roots Organic Raised Bed Soil has an NPK of 0.18-0.04-0.04. These numbers may seem low at first glance, but they're typical for organic fertilizers. Organic options are designed to be gentler, releasing nutrients slowly over time to support long-term plant health and reduce the risk of overfeeding. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to us at contact@backtotheroots.com — we're always happy to help!

Q: What are the ingredients of this soil?

submitted by Lauren K - 5 months ago
  • A: Hi Lauren! Our soils are made from processed forest products, coir, limestone, fertilizer, mycorrhizae, and moisture-balancing yucca. Depending on the soil bag, the organic fertilizers could have ingredients derived from milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, or soy. Please read through each soil bag's exact ingredients in case you have any allergies to any of these ingredients. If very severe, we'd recommend being careful using our soils & talking to a doctor first. All of our bagged soil has poultry litter, feather meal, and sulfate of potash. Our Organic Raised Bed Mix also has Gypsum to improve soil health. Please feel free to reach out to contact@backtotheroots.com with questions or concerns! We're here to help.

Q: Is it okay/normal for this to be full of little mushrooms? I'm using it in buckets indoors for tomatoes.

submitted by Justme - 1 year ago
  • A: Hi Justme! Mushrooms are a sign your soil is biologically alive and healthy; you can pinch the tops off and throw them out, but it could signal that the growing conditions are too humid and moist. Please feel free to send photos to contact@backtotheroots.com, we would be happy to help you grow.

Q: I opened a bag today and it is almost all powder. The normal mix is the opposite of powder. Any ideas a)what happened, b)what it is and c)how to use it so it is safe to use for vegetable plants?

submitted by fhj52 - 2 years ago
  • A: Hi FHJ52! If you wouldn't mind sending a photo of your soil to contact@backtotheroots.com, we would be happy to have a look to see what's happening with your soil. If need be, we are happy to help with a refund or replacement.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this soil along with potting mix to fill a couple of pots of fruit trees as well as topping off a raised bed with brassicas. I work for a landscaping company that makes compost and am impressed. Not sure I would fill a bed with this completely, but using it as part of a topsoil/potting soil mix has given me great results.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very excited to use this fertilizer this winter for my fruits and veggies. Only reason why I’m not using it right now is because it is a summertime in Arizona for all planters and crop growers. Highly recommend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The soil feels, looks, and smells very nutrient rich. I have several acreage I plant on so the value for myself is okay. I buy in bulk. I would use this for a potted plant.I am not sure if it is effective because the Avacado seeds will need to go & produce. Although the soil holds water well, it is dark in color which is a good sign of good soil.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This organic soil from the brand Back to the Roots is fantastic! The all-purpose soil is ideal for planting fruits, vegetables, and herbs. It contains a complete nutrient mix, including calcium, gypsum, and yucca extract, which supports healthy growth and moisture retention. The soil is lightweight, clean-looking, and of great quality smells great, and durable. I have a few raised beds in my backyard where I planted vegetables and herbs like onions, dill, and parsley. I really enjoy preparing my meals with fresh and healthy ingredients straight from my garden. I highly recommend this product!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The “Better” Raised Bed Mix by Back To Roots is a great option for my garden. The soil is evenly textured and feels fluffy. There are no large chunks or clumps which makes it a lot easier to spread. There are also no “fillers” like rocks or other materials though I did find an occasional twig. The soil drains well which is great for my vegetables. I love that the soil mix is organic, making it a healthier option for my family.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product from Influenster in exchange for my honest review. Back to the Roots "Better" Raised Bed Mix has worked great in my grow pot garden! I recently had to transfer some of my veggie garden to bigger grow pots and mixed this beautiful soil in. The soil has more wood chips than expected, but my plants don't seem to mind. It really made my plants take off and grow fast. Love that it's organic and contains yucca for moisture control and has plant food already mixed in. I find it to be very suitable for grow pots and will buy more in the future!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received Back to the Roots "Better" Raised Bed Mix from Influenster for my honest review. I was thrilled when I received the bag of soil. It came right on time when I was about to plant some veggies in the raised beds. The soil has earthworm castings which offered a rich source of nutrients and promoted growth to the plants. I put the soil on a few vegetables plants and the plant has been green and thriving. The scent of the soil was very earthy and woody and the packaging was easy to carry and open. I would definitely recommend this soil for raised beds.
