Q: Can the filter be cleaned or does it always have to be replaced

A: Hello Linda, Thank you for reaching out! Filters can be partially maintained by washing the foam pre-filter every 4 months. However, the Aer1® filters need to be replaced depending on their type: Total Air, Odor, and Smoke Filters last 4 months under normal use. Allergen and Allergen PerformancePlus Filters last up to 12 months. For best performance, check the Filter Viewing Window regularly to monitor dirt buildup and replace filters as needed. A: Honestly, a pretty good amount depending on the setting you choose. I sleep with it on 1 (low) and a fan and I hear nothing else in the night. It's almost a lower sound than a regular fan. It's nice.

I bought this roughly 6-7 years ago and it's been an amazing air filter. You can get filter replacements from many places and its super easy to use, clean, and deep clean. It's also very quiet on it's lowest two settings

I use this in my 117 sqft bedroom. My house is very small in general so I get a lot of dust and dander with two dogs and 4 people in it. But 2 years in the same small room and this just does not have the power to get it done. It’s definitely better than nothing, I bought it at a time where I was having crazy allergy issues in our new home and it helped a little! Just not worth it in the long run, I will be purchasing a replacement.

We get hit with wildfire smoke every year. We’re talking days on end sitting at 250+ on the AQI scale. This gets me through those days as I also have autoimmune issues that get triggered from air particulates. Absolutely essential for anyone who needs a designated Clean Air Room in their home. I can safely be in my room without having to mask. I have some semblance of a life because of this lil guy.

It doesn’t take up too much space. However it is so loud we used it as white noise at night on low setting up until it was so full of dust inside despite cleaning and new filters we had to dispose of it as it was just sending more dust out than collecting it. Plus new filter costs just as much as buying a whole new unit. Wasteful.

Bought this air purifier for my dorm room to combat mold and other irritants in the air. Just after a day the air was noticeably cleaner. Works very well in rooms that match the specifications on the box, and even still works well in rooms slightly larger. Definitely recommend for similar uses and for general household use. The ionizer and variety of filter types you can purchase after market is just a bonus on the products quality.

I've had the unit for 4 months and run it every night. I think it does a fine job of filtering the air. However, the unit sucks the air from the front pulling the filter tight against the unit and on the 2nd and highest setting the unit produces a piercing whistling sound. On the lowest setting the suction isn't strong enough to make the whistling sound. Due to the whistling sound I pretty much can't use the 2nd and highest setting and recommend the manufacturer to redesign so that the filter can't be pulled so tightly against the unit that it makes the whistling sound.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As an air purifier - it does not do a heck of a lot; it is terribly small - only really good for a small room; it does not "suck" in a ton of air, and it's exhaust is on the rear side. So if you put the purifier against the wall, it is blowing air backwards not up like you would typically expect. The speeds are pretty nice - low, med, high, as you would expect. Not sure what the ionizer does, but hey it sounds cool. No charcoal filter so no odor control, only a hepa filter.

This is the perfect size air filter tower, and I have noticed a difference in the air quality. Since I have gotten this tower air purifier and started using it, my allergies haven't bothered me very much at all, which is surprising, because normally my eyes will be irritated, and I'll be sneezing all the time. Not this year, and I am grateful. This air purifier will work in a small office or a medium size office, and the HEPA filter lasts for a year before it needs to be changed. Because I am not struggling with allergies this year, I am more productive at work, and a lot happier.

I put the Bionaire in my room and had a huge impact as my bedroom is both my office and where i sleep. Additionally it pretty quiet and has a smooth sound. For most people, high pollen outside doesn’t help as it is, but add that and a dog who sheds, makes it tough. We thought we had kept the house pretty clean, but after just even a week of having this on, we were shocked the amount of hair and dust it picked up. We had no clue we had been sleeping like this for so long and within two weeks I found myself sleeping easier and coughing less. Love the filter design and instructions are quite simple. Try one and be amazed!
