A: Hi Laura. This model comes with a washable pre-motor and a non-washable HEPA post-motor filter that should be replaced as needed.

A: Hi Sherry. This vacuum doesn't feature edge brushes on the foot, but will vacuum along walls. It also has an upholstery hose and tools for along baseboards, stairs and above floor cleaning needs.

A: Hi Natasha. For the BISSELL SurfaceSense Pet Lift-Off (model 3415), the brush roll does not operate in Lift-Off (canister) mode. The motorized brush roll is only powered when the vacuum is in its full upright mode with the canister attached. If you're using the Lift-Off mode for stairs or upholstery, suction will still work through the hose and tools, but the brush roll won't spin.

Love this vacuum!
I have 4 cats and my cordless vacuum was not powerful enough for my carpets. I could use it twice on the same rug and fill the canister twice. With SurfaceSense, the brush picks up so much more hair and has much more powerful suction. I tried it on my bare floors and love that it automatically adjusts its speed when I go from the bare floor to a low pile rug. I also love the lights on the front as well as on the crevice attachment. Highly recommend!!

Did Not Work
Brand new, right out of the box, it did not work. Viewed Bissell setup video and called Bissell Support, and the product was defective. This vacuum used to have a switch to turn on the brush roller, but apparently the design was changed and the switch was replaced with a sensor. The roller did not rotate on the unit I bought, and the vacuum was unusable. The sensor probably was bad. Planned obsolescence designed to fail? I've had other Bissell products, and the brand used to stand for more.

Not made for everyday use
I used these vacuum for my carpeted living room and not even 2 years of use and the wheel had fallen off and the coiled hose is already tearing. I don’t think this vacuum is made for everyday use and now in the market of looking for a better vacuum unfortunately

Surface Sense Allergen Pet Lift-Off
This vacuum is wonderful! I have two Aussie Shepherds. And I have fur everywhere. This vacuum helps control the tumbleweeds and the clumps of fur that I constantly battle. I love that the canister lifts off from the base/wheels so I can walk down the hall with the hose attachment and clean up along the baseboards. Same thing with stairs, it makes it much easier to navigate.

I hated this vacuum from the moment I got it. I’ve had this vacuum for just under 2 years and the motor randomly blew. Yes I performed regular maintenance on the machine. The vacuum never had good suction- it’s always been sub par. Lots of dirt and fur left behind- always had to go over the same spot multiple times. It also never vacuumed the edges of the floor near the wall or furniture- crevice tool was needed along every edge of every surface in order to get debris. Honestly relieved it broke, because now I have to get a new vacuum. I chucked it in the trash without hesitation even though I am under warranty. Even if they replaced it I wouldn’t be happy. No idea why this vacuum has so many good reviews.

I WANT to love this....
I want to be in love with this vacuum. It cleans well! My gripe is that the brush stops spinning when you switch modes (using the tools or going handheld) and will not start spinning again after you go back to standing vacuum mode. I have to turn the vacuum off for hours for it to start spinning the brush again.

Love it so much I bought 2!
Replaced really old vacuum with this and can't believe how much it sucks! ;P Seriously though I love the easy features and and common sense it was made with. The cord is long, and it's super easy to empty. I really appreciate the onboard attachments, but the light is probably my favorite feature. I can see every strand of dog hair so it all gets cleaned up. It's so much lighter than my old vacuum. I ordered another one after having it for a month and it be the upstairs maid.
