  • A: Hi Terry! Yes, Blue Lizard Sensitive Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50+ can be used on the face. It is specifically formulated for sensitive skin and is free of parabens and fragrances, making it a good option for facial application. The sunscreen is also known to be non-comedogenic, meaning it won't clog pores. This is the #1 sunscreen in our family. I first bought it from my grandson who has eczema and it worked so good that I brought it on our trip to Hawaii. It’s reef safe and we never burnt once or got red and I tan very easily. Some of my family members burn easily and it worked out amazing for us. This is our favorite sunscreen!!normally I use height end sunscreen, and this never made me break out when I put it on my face, nor did it make my daughter break out on her face

After using this product for two days, I woke up with a bad rash where I had applied the cream. If you have sensitive skin, you may want to test a small area of your skin for 48 hours before use.

Extremely bad. When I used the spray version from Banana Boat, it was totally fine, but after switching to this one for 3–4 days, my skin became noticeably dry. It made my skin very dry and visibly rough!!! I will never buy from this brand again.

Good reef-safe mineral sunscreen

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] overall this is a great option for those who want a reef-safe, mineral sunscreen! I will say, it does take a bit to rub into the skin to get rid of any white cast, but overall this did a good job at protecting our skin from the sun during a cruise to the caribbean. I’ve bought this brand before and I will likely buy again!

This sun screen gave my 4 yr old the worst rash I have ever seen. I am so upset about the pain this cause my granddaughter. Please do not buy this product. We had to take her to the doctor. Then the medicine they gave her burned. Tge only thing that helped was a bath in Dawn dish soap to remove the oil that is in this product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I tried the Blue Lizard Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50 and it’s actually really good! It feels gentle on the skin and didn’t irritate me at all. I like that it’s mineral-based. It does leave a bit of a white cast at first, especially on medium skin like mine, but if I take my time blending it, it mostly goes away. And my skin looks glowy! It feels lightweight, not greasy, and to be honest I avoided applying it on my face. Plus, I didn’t get any sunburn, so it definitely does its job!

Caused rash on child

Allison - 26 days ago, Verified purchaser
Caused rash on child following first use. The rash only showed up on places the sunscreen was applied - face, neck, and arms - so I’m fairly certain it was from this product. I should have chosen something else based on the reviews, but our typical brand of mineral sunscreen was out of stock. Do not recommend this!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] the application wasn’t the best for me. I’m used to sunscreen being smoother or using a spray, but this one was initially quite thick. I had to rub it in for a long time. It left the “white cast” pretty much makes me look “ashy” so im not very confident it absorbed well because i still had very obvious burns. On the positive side, the lotion has no scent, and the bottles had a special indicator on the top that alerts you to UVA/UVB exposure. Overall, I personally wasn’t a fan of the sunscreen. It’s not to say it won’t work for everyone, but it just didn’t work for me.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like that it doesn't have a strong scent. The texture is very thick, which is why it is not one of my favorites as a lightweight sunscreen fan, but it does its job.

I used to love the old formulation - worked great. I have sensitive skin and it’s hard for me to find products that work well for me. Sadly, the new formula makes my skin itchy (and is somehow greasier than the old one.) Time to shop for a new brand.

Rash

Ashley - 1 month ago, Verified purchaser
So, I bought this a while ago and used it here and there with no issues (and no sunburns)! I was loving this product until now. My family and I just returned from a week long summer vacation in the desert where we all lathered this stuff on several times. We all noticed a mildly itchy rash, primarily on our arms, and I just made the connection that it must have been from this product. I’m so disappointed since everything else about this sunscreen was perfect for us. Again, no sunburns despite many many hours of sun time. It spreads so well and isn’t greasy or smelly. And, a little goes a long way. Hopefully the rash is only a problem with repeated uses close together. I’m going to continue using it sparingly.

Loved how protective it is against the sun, especially when I want to be outside for a long time. It’s great for sensitive skin especially the face because I breakout from mostly anything I use but this stuff is safe for my skin. I just wish it was in a bigger bottle but a little goes a long way
