Q: 1.How often is descaling/cleaning needed for maintenance? 2.With proper cleaning, how long will this machine last? 3. How many bars is used for expressing coffee?

submitted by Espresso lover - 8 months ago
  • A: The frequency of the required descaling for the Breville® BEs450 Bambino® depends entirely on the frequency of shots pulled. The cleaning is recommended to be done once a week with the cleaning tablets. The machine should last for years with proper maintenance and cleaning. And the BES450 has a 9 barr extraction.

The Bambino espresso machine is appreciated for its compact design, ease of use, and ability to create delicious espresso and frothed milk at home. While some guests find it perfect for beginners and admire its quick heat-up time and consistent quality, others have faced challenges with temperature consistency, durability, and the learning curve associated with manual espresso machines. Worst Machine on the Entire Planet for this Bougie Brand

This is the worst I mean worst espresso machine I’ve ever used. The pieces are so hard to get into the machine. It continually doesn’t even run the water through the espresso, and it’s weak or never works. I hate this machine so much.

I purchased the Breville Bambino five months ago, and it has already stopped powering on—completely unresponsive. Having used various coffee machines over the years, this has been the most unreliable by far. I followed all the steps on Breville’s website to submit a support ticket and uploaded the required documentation, but received no reply. Their live chat feature consistently shows as "offline," and the website itself is essentially non-functional. If you're considering buying this model—or even one of Breville’s higher-end machines—proceed with caution. Good luck.

I’ve been using mine for about 3 or 4 years now, and it still works great! I use it almost everyday and have not had many issues with it. I eventually bought a new porta filter with an open basket, one because I wanted one with a wooden handle, and two because I was having issues cleaning the double barreled basket. I prefer the open baskets but they do splash all over the place sometimes. I only ever use the two shot option, and the steam wand works great. It’s a great beginner or budget espresso machine, I’d eventually like a machine with a grinder included and a better pour. This does the job for now and has saved a ton of money making lattes and americanos at home.

The filter baskets are hard to remove from the portafilter. Have to use tool like screwdriver or butter knife to dislodge. But it does make a fine espresso.

Great beginner espresso machine. Read the manual to familiarize yourself fully, can’t express this enough. Easy to use, heats up super fast, large water tank, simple interface, built in steam wand and the price was right since I bought mine on sale! No built in grinder and it does require manual tamping. I bought a better tamper and buy delicious locally roasted coffee here in SoCal that they grind especially for espresso. You can’t go wrong with this machine. It’s easy to care for too with a quick wipe down and occasional descaling (machine will prompt you when to descale)!

We bought this machine about a year ago and I have major regrets. I have been unable to pull a decent shot. Each shot is bitter, with little to no crema. I've experimented with the grind, the amount of coffee, the tamp, I've tried everything. I've even followed the YouTube videos with no luck. This machine really disappointed me. I wish I would have returned within the proper time window and purchased something else entirely.

The wall filler basket is too tightly imbedded in the Portafilter.

My wife gave me the espresso machine as a gift. While it seems like it might be great machine, I wanted to reach out to you as I found that the single wall filter basket was so tightly inserted into the portafilter that it took me more 5 minutes to open it with a knife. I do understand that the basket needs to have a snug fit, but not as jammed in as it must have been. This is obviously not going to be practical going forward. Could you send me a portafilter which has been sized to more easily enable the wall filter water baskets to be taken in and out? If you could do so, I'll take off the low rating here, and move you up to what I would expect to be a 5 as best I can tell is the attractiveness of the rest of the machine. In general, I prefer not to post any negative reviews, but my inability to find any customer care contact information on your website has given me no alternative as I would like to a good replacement part so as to be able to use a workable machine. Please help.

I bought my first Breville Bambino two years ago. After 11 months it completely stopped working out of nowhere. I ended up getting sent a new machine. The replacement machine worked for 12 months and now it will no longer pull two shots. (It still pulls one shot just fine.) The machine makes great espresso when it works, it just appears that these machines don't last more than one year. That being said, I don't think it's worth the money.

I bought this Machine a week ago, took it out of the packaging and everything feels like low quality plastic equipment. The steam wand leaks water into the milk resulting in watered down milk. You can’t put the Portafilter into the machine without basically manhandling it practically almost breaking it. Another downside to the machine is it’s very pricey with needing to purchase a grinder as-well if you don’t already own one. As a former barista I would not recommend this machine.

Took the money jump to a more powerful espresso machine and I am so far pleased with it. It is a manual frother which I prefer. The tightness of removing the porta filter is a little daunting but I assume it will loosen up a tad with use. The water tank is a lot easier to use than the Cafe Roma by far. Having the double set of baskets is a bonus. I would definitely recommend this machine for us “budget but want a treat for ourselves” people.

Wish I bought this sooner! It's a great machine overall as it's simple and quick to use. I love that the water tank is a good size so I don't have to fill the water too often even though I use the machine multiple times per day. It is a little loud but it's quick. I have a coffee grinder so I always use freshly ground espresso and it turns out great. I just wish it produced slightly larger/longer shots but it could be my technique. It's also easy to clean and doesn't take up too much room on the counter. Would recommend and am glad to be able to make my coffee at home - this is a money saver.
