Brita filter - black particles

5 out of 5 stars

There seems to be a lot of concern regarding the tiny black particles sometimes dispersed by the filters. The particles are activated carbon (also known as activated charcoal) and they're harmless. Interestingly enough, activated carbon is sometimes administered orally to poison patients in an eme...see moreof the reviewer's review

Brita Pitcher Filter

After reading the other review, I registered to write this review because I experienced none of the problems they reported. I followed the directions on the package filling up and filtering the water 2 times and the filtered water was crystal clear. I love my Brita water filter because in my area th...see moreof the reviewer's review

As someone who drinks a lot of water, bottled water was just getting too expensive. So, I decided to buy a Brita Water Filter, and it was the best purchase. I use it all the time and I love the water from it. I highly recommend. :)

Dont mind everyone's complaints about carbon- if you follow the instructions Brita provides by rinsing the filter, in addition to disposing of the first few pitchers run through the filter, then the water runs clear as its supposed to.

Have to agree with the tiny particle issue. Have been noticing same problem for some time now. I have to be careful not to pour the water from the bottom of the pitcher where the particles settle. Kinda gross. I was about to buy again, but see this should be resolved. Shouldn't happen when filte...see moreof the reviewer's review

I ordered a new dispenser and these replacement filters to replace an old dispenser of the same brand. I don't know what they did to 'improve' these new filters, but they are terrible! I am switching to a different brand entirely. They make the water taste musty and moldy. We checked to see if it wa...see moreof the reviewer's review

Filtered Water w/ Black Particles!

1 out of 5 stars
Mel 5 years ago
Same issue here as other reviewers. The carbon particles escape out of the filter and get into the "filtered" water. Followed the directions to a T. These are definitely an inferior product to those that come with the pitcher itself, as I had no issues with my original filter. I purchased the 3 pack...see moreof the reviewer's review

Carbon particles everywhere!

1 out of 5 stars
Katie G 5 years ago
My filters all did the same thing...I followed the directions before using them, let them soak, etc. and with each filter I have the same problem. There are black particles all over the top after putting water in, and they leak into the bottom and don't get filtered out. These are terrible!
