Q: Should Brita filtered water read between 50-250 on a TDS water meter tester? I purchased a new Brita pitcher with filter and the three times filtered water is reading 471, the tab water reads 528.
A: Based on a TDS reader, anything over 300 is considered poor water quality and not good for drinking.
submitted byShelly - 1 year agoA: Shelly, thanks for trying our Tahoe Pitcher. We're sorry you're disappointed, and we want to clarify that we don't make claims about TDS reduction at Brita, because TDS isn't a measurement of water safety. It's only an aesthetic (taste) measurement. Our filters can reduce contaminants like lead, mercury, and cadmium, among many others. If you have additional questions, please call us at 800-242-7482 and mention reference number 240318-000611. We hope this helps. Ashlee from The Brita Team

Q: I used an elite filter for the firt time and after only 3 weeks the light is red indicating it is time to change the filter. I thought it was supposed to last about 6 months. Is this wrong?
A: We're sorry about the timer on our Tahoe Pitcher, Terry, and we're happy to offer these troubleshooting steps: 1. Take a look at your pitcher to determine where the indicator is located. 2. If the indicator is on the top of your pitcher’s lid: 3. Press and hold down the STATUS button. Hold it there for 2 seconds if you’re using a white filter or 6 seconds if you have a blue (Elite) filter. 4. Release the button when the green light next to your filter icon flashes three times by itself. If the indicator is on the underside of your pitcher’s lid: Under the icon for your filter type, press and hold down the reset button for 5 seconds. Release the button when the light flashes three times. On older models: Press the Reset button firmly for 5 seconds. If needed, use a capped ballpoint pen. We hope this works out for you. If you have any further questions, give us a call at 800-242-7482 and mention #241217-000575. Have a wonderful day. Jeffery from The Brita Team

Q: Am I reading correctly, that the Brita filter does not reduce chlorine content in the water? It only removes the taste and odor? Thanks
A: That's a good question. Our Standard Filters remove/reduce 95% of the chlorine from your tap water contributing to a better taste and smell. We hope this is helpful.
