Q: Does this cut 8.5 in x 11 in sticker paper into 1 in squares?

submitted by Kids projects - 2 years ago
  • A: Max material width is 5.5 so you would have to trim the 8.5 x11 to fit before cutting into squares.

submitted byCraftyS - 2 years ago
  • A: No.

Q: If I was wanting to cut out a donut sticker with a center cut in the "hole" part of the donut, would this machine do that? Also does this function as a printer since it states it is a Writing Machine

submitted by jack123 - 1 year ago
  • A: The machine would absolutely be capable of cutting that! While the Joy is not a traditional printer with ink, it does have the ability to draw/write using Cricut pens in junction with the Design Space software.

Q: do I need the internet in order to use it. Can I use the Cricut cartridges in it?

submitted by yama - 3 years ago
  • A: If you don't want to link your cartridges to the software ( a big job) then Explore Air 2 has a slot to insert cartridges.

submitted byCraftyS - 2 years ago
  • A: Hi Yama, you can use this machine with the Design Space application or Joy application. Cartridge's are able to be linked to our software to use. If you have further questions please feel free to reach out to us at cricut.com/contact.

Q: Can this machine cut crepe paper? Also can it cut multiple sheets at once?

submitted by Bebe - 5 years ago
  • A: We don't recommend cutting any food products with our machine as they aren't made with food safety in mind. We also don't have specific settings for multiple layers of product as it needs to stick to the mat or go through the smart rollers in order to feed through the machine. If you have any further questions let us know! cricut.com/contact

    Brand expert
  • A: Crepe paper is NOT a food item. It is a light, crinkly paper that is PRIMARILY used for party streamers. This being said, it PROBABLY won't work in the Cricut.

I would like to rate my Cricut Joy as a 5 star but just cannot, I like to make insert cards and several designs leave me poking out more chads than I would prefer to spend time doing, cutting is not as sharp and consistent as I expect

An internet connection is required to use this machine!!! If not for this limitation I would give it 4 stars. I'd give it five stars if I didn't have to have a monthly subscription to process pictures. I use this machine to make circuit board patterns to etch into copper board- something I do 2 to 4 times a year. I think Cricut could have made this process easier but chose not to. This is what I go through: I draw the pattern in Excel, I then print screen and paste it into MS paint, crop and save it as a picture file, I then import into MS Word to remove the background and save again. Next I load up a generator in the back of my truck, haul my PC and the Cricut into town where I have a good enough cell phone connection to act as an internet hot spot, and make the cut. It's a HUGE inconvenience so I've only used it twice, however, it did a good job both times. For someone like me who lives out in the sticks with no connectivity and only using this less than a half dozen times a year it's a poor solution, and one that is totally fixable if Cricut chose to.

Impossible to calibrate. CDS literally does not have the option. Cannot get my cuts to LINE TF UP. Waste of money and regret asking for one for my bday. If you want a cricut, save up and put the money out for a PROPER one. With all the features. Avoid this cheap useless piece of plastic.

This is a replacement for my first joy which died after much use. I tend to use my joy more than my maker for quick things such as a last minute needed card or quick name for my daughter's school stuff. I have had the maker longer and use it for all my big projects, but the joy just didn't make it, and I had to replace her. I just couldn't be without my quick crafting friend.

This machine is extremely basic. You cannot make custom labels. This does not have a print then cut feature. This machine can only cut or draw with a pen. You cannot design anything with a real picture.
