Q: what are the black spots in the pans? I just purchased 2 pans and 1 pot. All 3 have black spots after washing. Can I remove them and are they safe to use?

A: James, in an effort to respond to your question without know if the spots you are referring to are on the inside or outside the pans, I will offer you insights assuming they are on the inside of the pan. If they are on the outside of the pan, please contact Product Support for further instructions at 1-800-726-0190. Assuming the marks are on the inside of the pan, it is helpful to know that when food is burned in the pan, a stubborn black residue may remain. If soaking does not loosen it, add water to a depth of one inch in the pan, then add a tablespoon of dishwasher detergent (a non-lemon product). Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Let cool in the pan, then drain and rinse. Loosen the residue with a sponge or plastic spatula. Repeat if necessary. We recommend using a low to medium setting for most cooking.

Glass top not safe bad quality
This is what happened the first time I used my brand new Cuisinart sauce pan. The glass top does not have a vent, which was probably my first clue that something was wrong. I put it on the pot with the heat turned off, so my food could cool down. I did not have it on the pot while my food was cooking. This is what happened. Horrible! Shame on you, Cuisinart I thought you were a quality brand!

Worst pan I've owned
This is an incredibly cheaply-made item, IMO. The shiny steel cooking surface has already acquired multiple pits after 7 weeks use. It seems like a thin foil on top of a black base metal. I mostly use this to boil water and cook from that (oatmeal, pasta, etc.). I have used soft (blue) sponges and cloths, not yellow sponges or steel wool. It's cheap, as such pans go, but seems really cheap in quality. Laughable! Bush-League Psych-out stuff!

What spots??
Don't know what the other reviews are about as I have no "black spots" after boiling water, just the usual little white mineral residue that is common when boiling water in ANY container. Cleans easily with a green pad. If you don't put the handle over direct heat it stays safe to handle. Sounds like others may be burning their food, a common error when cooking at too high temps. I have no issues with my Cuisinart cookware.
