Q: Can you use the bowl a 2nd time? Or do you need to refreeze before a 2nd use?

submitted by sammy21 - 2 months ago
  • A: The Cuisinart Pure Indulgence 2-Quart Ice Cream Maker (Model ICE-30BCP1) requires its freezer bowl to be completely frozen before each use. After making one batch of ice cream, the bowl warms up and must be refrozen before it can be used again. Attempting to make a second batch without refreezing will result in suboptimal freezing and texture.

Q: Do you have to pre-freeze the bowl

submitted by Nisisi - 3 years ago
  • A: Hi Nisisi - yes, you need to freeze the bowl prior to use. It's recommended you freeze the bowl for 12 to 24 hours prior to use. To determine whether the bowl is completely frozen, shake it. If you do not hear liquid moving, the cooling liquid is frozen

Q: Does this require ice and salt?

submitted by Debora - 8 years ago
  • A: No. It has a freezer bowl that you need to keep in the freezer for at least 8 hours before making the ice cream. Longer than 8 hours is even better.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My new summer hobby is making ice cream. I love that I can create my own flavors, use all organic ingredients, and lower the sugar content. The machine is great. Be sure to ensure The only negative I’ve experienced is that a layer of Ice cream builds up on the sides and bottom of the freezing container because the mixing arm doesn’t fit tight to the bucket. It’s fun to pick that off afterward and in my perfect world it wouldn’t do build up like that—all the ice cream would be scoop-able. Be sure to ensure the mixing arm is set into the indentation in the bottom of the bucket. This reduces noise and bucket side and bottom freezing. It won’t be perfect tho and the mixer will be pretty noisy—it’s only for 20-30 minutes. Let it ride. Overall a great experience and I’m so happy that I did this. May I upgrade if my ice cream making adventure continue? Sure. In a year or two tho. For now this is perfect. And if you make custard base… oh my so creamy and smooth.

I made the simple vanilla ice cream and I must say it was good . The second time I decided to make chocolate. The mixing paddle broke so I end up using a spoon to keep it stirred while it was freezing . I hope this part is covered under warranty.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this a few weeks ago and it's truly been a fun experience! We've made berry sorbet twice and frozen peach yogurt once so far and they've all been fabulous. This is so easy to use. Just 4 pieces to this appliance, that's it. Freezer tub kept in the freezer so it's ready. Easy to clean the blade and top. Easy to keep an eye on as the machine runs. And it's so surprisingly quick - 20 to 25 minutes to get the frozen desserts to the "soft stage". Put the dessert in a bowl and then just another hour or so in the freezer for firmer treats.

We’ve made several batches of ice cream with it and only 2 didn’t work out right as in wouldn’t freeze. We put the bowl in the very back of the freezer now and it works beautifully. Mix all your ingredients thoroughly and when ready to pour into the bowl, then get it out of the freezer. Perfect!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love it! I’ve made ice cream for years using the large electric freezers that require ice. Because it’s a bit cumbersome, I only make it for family gatherings. Used this for the first time using our family recipe. Couldn’t believe how easy it was and the ice cream was ready is about 25 minutes. Afraid I’ll gain a bunch of weight since making frozen treats is so easy.
