These aren’t the worst pillows, but they’re definitely not the best either. The feathers poke through the material and it hurts your skin sometimes. I wish there was another layer between the feathers and the outside. I’ll most likely have to add another pillowcase on top. They’re definitely comfortable though.

I found these on clearance at my local Target - $6 each for the outer cover and memory foam inserts. I was also able to snag a down alternative insert. I decided the price was right, so I gave them a try. At home, I tried multiple configurations: the down alternative insert was far too flat, the foam insert was better but still very flat, and the combination of down alternative and memory foam inserts was far too tall. If they sold insert choices not just by type of material, but also by thickness, this would be a much better product. In the end, I would never have paid more than what I did for these ($12 a pillow). Everybody's pillow preferences are different, but these are a total flop for me. The one plus is I did find the outer cover to be very soft, which isn't really worth much since you just put a pillow case on it anyway.

I actually love this pillow, and it was very comfortable, until soon after purchase the feathers began coming out through the fabric! First one, then a couple, then many. I'd find feathers in the bed, stuck in my hair, and on the floor. Then often, they would poke at me sharply, and I'd have to pull them out. I threw it away, and just bought the memory foam insert online. I recommend the pillow, but do not by the feather insert!

Target needs better descriptors for this excellent product, marketing missed the mark- This has two components- an OUTER pillow with upper and lower thinner pillows whose case unzips for you to place an INNER layer inside between the two layers. The inner piece option is of your choice- I chose the memory foam. I believe there is a down or down alternative insert to also choose from. You insert your option and zip it back up and voila, new, semi customized pillow. THEN you place inside your favorite pillowcase. Go to the store and check it out!

Years ago, I found my favorite pillow of all time (so far), which was a down alternative fieldcrest pillow with a removable memory foam pad, so you could wash the pillows without damaging the memory foam. Sadly, I haven’t been able to take very good care of the many I purchased, so I was looking for a potential replacement and purchased on in queen size. These have down alternative on both sides of the pillow so they are not the exact same as the fieldcrest model. However, one side does still have less of the down alternative material than the other, so I still have that change in texture as well as coolness I’ve so enjoyed from the other side of my fieldcrest pillows. My largest bed now is a queen, but I am considering investing in a set of four of these pillows (plus the memory foam inserts) in king size sometime soon since I do plan to upgrade my bed to a king size the next time I move. I’m worried that they’ll go the way of the fieldcrest pillows and no longer be available. So that should give the reader some perspective on how much I like the design of these pillows and how grateful I am that Target is attempting to maximize its profits by emphasizing the options this format creates. The fieldcrest pillows weren’t advertised as convertible. I hope this concept isn’t too complicated for people so it performs poorly. Target, if it does, please don’t discontinue the design! Or give me a warning if you’re going to, so I can make sure I’ve stocked up for the literal rest of my life…

I know this is supposed to be used in conjunction WITH a regular pillow, but I love this alone. I prefer thin pillows for my head and neck. "Regular" size pillows are too thick for me. This is super fluffy (down alternative) yet thin. Love it.
