Q: Is the nonstick base removable and dishwasher safe? Or how would one clean the nonstick surface?
A: I use a dishcloth wet with a little bit soapy water, rinse the cloth and wipe again and dry it with paper towel.

Q: How do you know the popcorn is ready? Does it have a timer, or do you wait for it to stop popping? Or turn it off when the popcorn starts slowing down? Please explain?
A: Thank you for your interest in the Dash SmartStore Stirring Popcorn Maker! Just like when cooking popcorn on the stove top or in the microwave, you can tell it is almost finished when the popping slows down. At that point, you would switch the unit off. Q: Do you know the max temp this puts out? How hot is the surface when operating?

Q: What is the minimum about oil you can use? Is the cooking service a non toxic coating , BPA, PTFE, PFOA, PFAS, LEAD, CADMIUM ??

For our stirring popcorn makers, we recommend using a minimum of about 1 tablespoon of oil for every ¼ to ½ cup of popcorn kernels. The unit’s coatings do not contain lead or cadmium. Q: I removed the stirring rod to clean it, and screwed back the top wheel. Now I am unable to unscrew the top wheel to re-insert the stirring rod. It keeps rotating but won't unscrew. What should I do?

Q: Can you use it without the oil? The whole point of an air popper for me is the ability to NOT include oil.
A: You’ll need at least a small amount of oil to use the Dash 6 qt SmartStore Stirring Popcorn Maker—it’s not a hot-air popper. The oil helps evenly distribute heat and prevent scorching.
