A: Hello! We do not recommend the Dash 6qt SmartStore Stirring Popcorn Maker to pop sorghum. Because sorghum kernels are much smaller and lighter than standard popcorn, the included stirring bar cannot properly agitate them. This causes the kernels to sit still which can easily burn the sorghum. - Dash Team

Just like when cooking popcorn on the stove top or in the microwave, you can tell it is almost finished when the popping slows down. At that point, you would switch the unit off. Having a hard time figuring out how to not burn the popcorn. Plus parts of the sides of the plastic seem to be coming off while baking. And the main bowl part has a burnt residue on it that is so hard to remove.

Great Popcorn Maker!
First two batches were perfect! No issues at all. First batch was completed in just over 5 minutes. Made the second batch immediately after the first batch and it completed in just under 5 minutes. Again, each batch was perfect with only a few unpopped kernels. Cleanup was a breeze too. My wife and I have popcorn at least weekly. I've owned another brand ("stir-crazy") for many years. The Dash 24-cup popper, so far, does a much better job than my other brand.

We just tried out or new Dash smartstore stirring popcorn maker. It was easy to use and made GREAT popcorn. Compared to our previous west bend stir crazy popcorn machine this Dash machine was hands down a better machine, by being more user friendly, easier to clean, smaller in size for storage and made more popcorn per cycle. Can't wait to try out different popcorn flavors in the recipe booklet that came with it. Build quality looks good also. Hopefully we can enjoy this popcorn maker for many years to come.

My old air-pop popcorn maker finally gave out, so I bought one of these! I like the ease of use and having the lid turn into the bowl. The kettle corn is easy to make, by just adding sugar to the kernels. Just remember to flip the popcorn into the bowl soon after popping as the base is hot and can burn popcorn left on its surface
