Just like when cooking popcorn on the stove top or in the microwave, you can tell it is almost finished when the popping slows down. At that point, you would switch the unit off. Do Not Buy!

I would rate this lower if I could. I don't often leave bad reviews unless something is truly terrible. This thing doesn't really pop any popcorn. On the first try, we got maybe 3 popped cornels. We figured 'maybe we have to many so let's try 1/3 instead. On the second try, we got a few more, but all were burnt and there is a nasty burn ring on the plastic surface. Do not buy this.

Hello! Popcorn requires a certain amount of moisture which expands when heating up resulting in the fluffy texture of popcorn. We recommend filling a 12oz mason jar (or airtight container) and adding 1tsp of water before shaking and allowing to sit for 6 hours. Please also ensure to use the amount of oil instructed.
