Q: Juat got this, and the boom doesn't stay up on it's own except for at the lower end of the angles, and kind of when it is straight up. Is this normal or should it be pretty rigid under it's own weight?

submitted by Garrett - 5 years ago
  • A: The last stage of the boom is on an air lock system, turn that selector switch at the base of the boom and run it all the way out, it will lock in place. Crank the winch line back up into the tip, it will move that little plastic plate and unlock the air, then retracting the boom as you reel in the line.

  • A: The one we got does the same thing. We assumed it was defective and plan on exchanging it, but Target is out of them. So either it's a poor design or these are defective. Sorry to not actually answer your question - but at least we know we aren't the only ones!

  • A: My son got this too and it's the exact same way for us. It seems like there should be some kind of clutch to keep it in a locked position, but there doesn't appear to be one.

  • A: Same issue on mine. will contact the company.

  • A: Got for our grandson. opened it, box in trash. Same problem - the boom will not stay up. The crank just clicks. Opened the boom crank area and found the yellow plastic gear broken. merry christma

Q: On the crane the strings does not rewind anymore how can I fix this?

submitted by Yvette - 9 months ago
  • A: Hi Yvette. Please use the following directions when working with your truck. If not used like this, your truck may become damaged: -put the switch in the forward position -extend the crane arm completely/the hook can be lowered now -put the switch in the backward position -the crane arm and hook can be retracted -gently move the cord drum while turning the crank to avoid the loud 'click' sound Thank you. Q: how much weight can it hold at when fully extended before flipping over

submitted by Nicholas - 2 years ago
  • A: Hi Nicholas. The angle of the crane arm will affect the weight it can carry before flipping over. When the crane arm is horizontal, it can carry less weight and when the crane is completely raised it can carry more weight. When the crane arm is completely raised and extended, the maximum supported weight is 2.597 lbs (1.178 kg). The Battat Team

Summary of reviews

The toy crane truck is large and visually appealing, with working lights and sounds, but has significant durability issues. The crane and boom often break quickly, and the crank mechanism for the crane rope is prone to jamming or breaking, leading to disappointment. Some guests found it difficult for younger children to operate. However, some guests had positive experiences, praising its size and the enjoyment it brought their children.

Have bought two of these and the crane crank is not well made. It starts off ok and then it will make noise and string won't go back in. Son wanted this for Xmas and have had to replace it twice already.

This is an awful toy!!! My 5 year old saved his money for a long time to buy this. He played with it for about 45 min and the crank arm stoped turning. It locked up. And so I returned it and ordered a new one.. that one came and it was broken the same way upon arrival. He is 5 and he was devastated because he had saved and saved for so long and then it was total and complete junk!!! Do not buy this toy. It’s awful!

I got this for my son for Xmas and we have non stop issues with it. It does not retract easily/jams and I constantly having to fix it. I got so tired of fixing it that we stopped playing with it but today my son asked again and it is completely stuck and will not retract. This is an exceptionally expensive toy considering the features and not one play time with it has been successful. Really disappointed.

This is an awesome truck. The important parts need to be made of metal. It's expensive enough, the company would not even need to charge more to make the gears metal. After reading all the reviews that said the same thing, my 11yo son decided to buy this (with his own, hard earned money) because he figured he was old enough to be careful and would not have the same problem. Less than 2 days in and the boon will not stay up because the gear is broken. No rough play, only careful examination of how it works. I've submitted a ticket for a replacement part--I'll update when I hear back from the company. They make cool products but they're only cool if they last longer than 2 days. A few metal pieces would make this go a long way so kids could actually enjoy it instead of it becoming plastic waste so quickly.

This is one of the worst toy purchases I've ever made. I bought this for my son's birthday and after the first day the reel stopped working and I can't lock the arm in. The quality is severely lacking for the price point. I will never buy another toy from this brand.

I was hopeful, despite reviews. But this stopped working after just a few times playing with it. The review won't let me add a video, or else I'd show that the hook real is stuck and the levers no longer operate to lower and raise it. I will also note, that when the toy was working, it was really difficult to operate for my 5 year old and even myself! It takes a lot of force! I reached out to the BATTAT company as they have encouraged in other reviews and had a very poor experience. They stopped communicating with me and did not assist with fixing any issues. I'm very disappointed with the quality of this product and the lack of customer care and support. I wish I would have trusted the other reviews. Look at the reviews everyone! Poor reviews are for a reason and reflect a very poor product!

My son talked about this for months! We got he and he loves the idea of the crane but it is already broke. Just clicks and won't do anything, seems a bit ridiculous for a $70 toy. The truck does have some neat features, sounds, large crane, lights. It is very big, I will say the sounds are very low volume. I would return but seems maybe this is out of stock everywhere and/or discontinued. We have several driven items but this is not built to last AT all.
