Description
The cordless Dyson Gen5outsize has the suction power of a corded vacuum.¹ It has HEPA filtration for our deepest, most hygienic clean. Q: Is the HEPA filter really washable? to identify its the stand-up pleated cylindrical one that looks like paper. The similar filter on the Miele cordless isn't washable, so worth asking.

Great vacume
I love this vacume. It picks dirtup like you wouldn't believe. Really love the light on the bottom. Let's u see dust that I couldn't see before. It's a little heavy for me. But I have problems that doesn't help with vacuuming. Also like that has 2 cleaning heads. Both work excellent..it's very easy to empty.

Great Tool For Cleaning
Originally I bought the V15 and Gen5Detect as I didn't know which one I wanted. After trying both, for me it was an easy decision. The Gen5Detect you do not have to hold the trigger to vaccumn which is really nice. They all should have that feature. I did not even notice with weight difference in the two machines. The suction power of the Gen5Detect is awesome. The battery run time is fantastic. Then only thing I would improve upon is a bigger head for solid surface floors to make the job go quicker. I have ordered the head form the Gen5Outsize to put on the Gen5Detect which will work great I hope. So far very pleased with the machine

Not worth
I bought it a month ago, and it’s definitely not worth the price. To vacuum the whole house, you constantly have to change the attachments. The battery barely lasts long enough to clean everything, and the dust container is small. Not worth it.

Excellent cleaner
This was a massive upgrade over previous cleaners. It cleans up embedded dirt and dust deep in the carpet pile. The Laser on the hard floor attachment highlights just how much dust and pet hair is on the floor.

Great suction but small capacity.
I bought my Gen5 Detect a couple of weeks ago because my old Dyson started to lose suction power. Website recommended this one for pet owners and mentioned that it had large dirt collection canisters and great for large homes. I immediately noticed that the suction was so much better and came with great attachments, but was very disappointed about the size of the collection canister. I have to empty it every 5 min. I would say this is not suitable for a large dog owners. Also dog hair gets suck when emptying the canister.

I have had this for over a month and it is brilliant.I Haven't tried all the attachments yet but the click on and off easily, moves around and under furniture and around corners with no problems, seems to filter very well and performance is amazing. The battery doesn't last as long as my last one but that is the only thing I could say about that one, because my last Dyson was a lemon, and it was so average compared to the 2 Dysons I had before that. The Dyson Gen5 Dectect is the best I've ever had

So far we love this unit. The battery life however does not seem to be as advertised. We are only seeing about 20-25 minutes of runtime per battery in the auto function. Its possible that Dyson states the 70 min run time is in low mode. Thankfully this unit comes with 2 batteries so battery life has not been any issues for us. The vacuum functions work really great. The green light has been a favorite as it really highlights how dirty the floors were before using the unit. Not having to dance around a cord any longer is also a highly appreciated. Expensive unit but so far its well worth it.

Great vacuum
Have had this for 2 weeks now. Initially was thinking of getting the Dyson V15 but glad I went with the Gen 5 which has a bit more power, battery life and without the trigger. Had always thought the dust gauge to be a bit of a gimmick but it is actually quite useful to gauge if you are vacuuming effectively as the meter will tick over even when you think or what you see appears to be spotless/dustless. I find the meter more useful on the carpets as carpets hide dust. I thought the little green light on the hardfloor head was another gimmick but again it actually serves quite a good purpose letting you see where dust sits that you wouldn't normally visibly see on the hardwood floors. Emptying the bin is also a breeze. My wife struggled with emptying the old V6 and would always ask me to help but emptying the Gen 5 is simple. Overall happy so far with the upgrade from an old V6!

Almost Perfect
Really nice product. What would make it perfect is if the fluffy optic head was a few inches wider (there is one that exists, but I can’t find anywhere to purchase it separately) and if the motor head worked better in area rugs (it sucks it up and then stops spinning, so I need to be able to keep the suction at medium but have more airflow under the attachment). Love it overall, but would like to have these changes.

Waited far too long to buy this!
I bought this a little over a month ago and even better than I had hoped. The suction is fantastic on this but also the way it maneuvers everywhere with ease is the best. Highly recommend this product! gone are the days of plugging and unplugging my old vacuum to get into each room!

Would I buy again - NO
Very heavy. Not suitable for fine dust environments as dust eventually clogs the filtration and is a significant job to clean it. Doesn't clean edges well with the standard head - you have to change attachments. Awkward when changing attachments. Could do with a small brush head attachment. Crevice tools are excellent. Great battery life. Very powerful carpet cleaning. Great for cleaning underneath beds etc.

Nice piece of kit, powerful. Hard floor cleaner with the light is quite revealing when using, you just don’t realise what is on the floor😂 Like the Hepa filter, main reason for going with this, no point vacuuming and then spreading the dust back out a filter. Attachments are ok but not great. Certainly gets up long hair, which is nice! Downsides. It is a bit heavy. The floor attachment got a ear splitting squeal after 2 goes, WD40 if you have this issue. The battery doesn’t last that long and this is new. Won’t do the whole house in one go like my old V11???

Not Lovin' It
I have transitioned from a DC54 barrel to the stick cleaner and I'm not loving it to be honest. While I like the green light function on the hard floor cleaning head, the battery runs out too quickly and overall it lacks the manoeuvrability that comes with a hose vacuum cleaner when cleaning the car, furniture, windows and other crevices. I think I should have stuck with a barrel. Buyers remorse after forking out a fair bit even with the ~30% discount I got.
