Fantastic features!

Love the light!
The dyson gen5detect is a replacement for an earlier stick dyson which had a trigger hold. The new dyson is most definitely a step up with the push button start. The suction is great but the difference for me is the light on the smaller vacuum head allowing you to see the dust & for me dog hair! Its maneuverability is fantastic. I couldn't be happier with my new Dyson gen5detect!

Sucks like there is no tomorrow!
This vac sucks like there is no tomorrow! The only negative for me is it's weight. It's significantly heavier and bulkier compared to my V10, but I guess it's a trade off that I am happy to compromise. I also love the electronic indicator of what you're sucking up as it tells me when there is nothing left especially on carpets. It's important to me as I suffer from allergies of household dust and dustmite.

Disappointing suction & thick carpet performance
I expected much more from the Dyson Gen5detect Complete, especially given its price. The suction feels quite poor, particularly when using the hard floor head. I often feel that it is not picking up everything as effectively as I expected. The carpet head works better on normal carpets, but on thicker carpets it tends to get stuck and the brush stops rolling, which makes it frustrating to use.

Very good vacuum but with one major drawback.
Over all the vacuum is very good. I has one major drawback which is that it does not have a crevice tool that is not narrow enough to allow cleaning of tight spaces especially in the car.

Mounting advice
This tool is amazing, does the job and the light feature shows up dust that you wouldn't even know is there. The tip I have is if you mount it on the wall, the recommended height to install the bracket is referring to unit with the carpet head on, so if you are like me and don't have the carpet and only use the hard floors head it can be a bit high off the floor level, DEFINATLEY not a reason to buy this 100% satisfied

not sure how to clean this thing, no dyson shops
i wish there was a water washable shop vac. the electric panel stopped working after rinsing the filter and cannister and drying for 24 hours. hoping to dry 2 more days to see if it works. lasted about 2 mos. heavy drywall vacumming, porch, mold remediation, pets, everything. expensive for what it does, but i can afford replacement

Good suction, but room for a few improvements
I bought the Gen5Outsize, mainly for the larger head and dust compartment. I was very disappointed to find that the head with the green laser light is standard size, not wider. Also because of the wider dust compartment I can not use it well under furnitures, like beds. If the head would be the way that I could turn it 90 degrees sideways, that would solve that problem. I also would like an extension pipe to allow me to vacuum in narrow spaces, like next to the fridge or behind my fire place. Also the plastic holder / charger for the wall is not very user friendly, to get it in and out. Several times I even got the cleaner stuck. Run time and suction is good.

I have had this for a couple of weeks and it is amazing. I can actually see where I have vacuumed which is great but disturbing to see how bad my previous (non Dyson) vacuum was.

Game changer
Replaced an excellent Meile mains-power vacuum and I'm shocked by how much more convenient the Dyson is. I'm pretty sure it picks up more dirt, too, but certainly it's as good on that front. It's a four-bedroom, two-storey townhouse and it's huge not having a long power (but not long enough) power cord to manage. Second is the head that adjusts automatically for hard and soft surfaces. Third is it's hugely better for stairs. Fourth you can do skirting boards and the like without having to move between power sockets. Fifth it's extraordinarily easy to empty and no need to buy dust bags. Downsides: 1. It sticks to our rubber-backed dining room rug; 2. it goes through the battery very fast on carpet, when it uses high power (but there's enough there for us). It's beautifully constructed. Can't compare it with other cordless products but it's changed vacuuming from an irritating time-suck that's delayed to an almost pleasant activity that takes a few minutes and is easily done every day or two.

Ideal all-in-one vacuum
Had to replace our Dyson v12 Animal and decided to try this as our one and only vacuum for a 2500 sqft house with hardwood a carpet and it’s more than capable. Larger bin capacity, more powerful, and longer battery life make it an ideal all-in-one solution for a house our size.

Best vacuum I have ever owned
Suction is great on carpet using standard head with rollers, and using the hard floor attachment. The laser that highlights dust on the hard floor attachment is superb. The charge is sufficient to clean the entire house. As long as you leave it on the charging station when not being used, I have never once worried about charge. The little video that appears when it's time to clean the filter is a very cool feature. My vacuum plays videos. Wild stuff. It is very easy to push around and you can essentially vacuum from a 180 degree angle, totally parallel to the floor, which is useful for hoovering under tables, desks etc.

Fabulous suction
Replacement for my V11. So far I love it. Suction is great and the light makes detection under furniture easy and novel to me. It doesn’t quite last for the entire house (large) but who wants to spend that much time vacuuming. With a very hairy dog this is perfect for hard floors and carpet/rugs. I was surprised how much it picked up from previously cleaned carpets.
