Q: Some of the reviews say you have to hold down the power button. Does that mean you have to hold it down to keep the power on while you're vacuuming? That doesn't make sense.

  • A: Yes, you have to hold the power button the entire time you are vacuuming. Honestly, it's something you get used to as the power button is directly where you hold the vacuum. It's only mildly inconvenient for cleaning surfaces other than floors. And it greatly helps with the battery.

This VERY EXPENSIVE vacuum can barely last for over a minute or two of vacuuming before it runs out of battery. And it is only a few years old, and the suction isn't even that amazing. Very annoyed with this overpriced piece of junk. Get a Shark or something else.

I bought this vacuum as a spare to my current Dyson "stick" vacuum. This seems like an updated version in which the performance is nearly identical. My only qualm is that the attachments are incompatible with each other. I was hoping that this vacuum could be a replacement in case my older vacuum fails. I suppose that's not the case, in which I may have to buy attachments in the future. Something to think about when purchasing. Do research before buying. Otherwise, an excellent vacuum on it's own.

Usually need to use it on boost mode to get dog hair off the floor and an area rug, in the eco mode stuff gets clogged. On boost mode it only runs for 8 mins, so 2 minutes into using the vacuum it’s already showing “low power”. I’ve only had it since December, wish I could return.

Terrible for pet hair

This vacuum is a complete disappointment. We have a dog and vacuum often. Unfortunately, this vacuum gets plugged 1 minute into vacuuming. We have only used it a handful of times as it has quadrupled the amount of time it takes to vacuum because you constantly have to stop to unplug it.

Waste of money & energy

Bought two separate Dyson stick vacuums. Both broke at the base each time. Terrible quality for the price which is hugely inflated. First vacuum lasted three years. Second one lasted two years. Furthermore, they do not pick up debris properly. Very small particles in corners are missed. Oftentimes they are sucked up only to fall out from the base. It is better to use the traditional electric canster vacuum cleaner to throughly clean up. In fact, that is what we end up doing 50% of the time and now that the latest Dyson broke is what we end up doing. Therefore, don't waste your money buying this junk.

At first it was amazing and I was super thrilled; however, after about a months use, it was horrible. It went from having great suction and picking up everything to having ZERO suction. Dirt falls out of it when you turn it off. I've cleaned the filter and taken it apart to try to fix it, nothing helps. It's absolute garbage. Save your money!

I never write reviews, but had to write this one. This is the worst vacuum I have ever used. It needs to be cleaned about three times PER ROOM, gets clogged and dumps small bits back onto the carpet after turned off. I had a purple upright Dyson for a decade that was the most amazing vacuum. It's hard to believe that the same company made this one. So disappointing.

Broke after a few months

I bought this one and a very similar model so two total. It's been about 7 months. I waited to take them into the store and realized they were both out of warranty. They both broke completely. We've repaired them on our own several times for different issues. I also have a third dyson which is also broken in the closet. They are NOT what they used to be people. Steer clear of this cheaply made junk.

Piece of garbage!

Vacuum is the worst piece of garbage I've ever owned! Doesn't pick up cat litter, just moves it around, doesn't pick up coffee grounds, sidewalk salt, even feathers from a comforter! I've owned Dyson in the past but this is junk! I missed the return window by a week and I paid almost $300 for a vacuum that not only doesn't vacuum, but clogs immediately, even though I vacuum daily!

I bought this in November and now, I can’t pick up pet hair or salt from the snow. It’s completely useless. It gets clogged constantly. Horrible vacuum.

Expecting WAY better from Dyson

Purchased the Dyson Digital Slim vacuum from Target on Black Friday. Worked for about a month and then would not charge or power on. Display was stuck on 100% battery life and would not do anything. Tried "resetting" to no avail. Contacted Dyson customer service, and what a clown show. Signed up for a Dyson account to be able to register the vacuum. Filled out the customer service request form. They emailed me back and needed the model and serial number, again. What's the point in filling out all information to register the unit, then again to request service and a 3rd time after you request service. After emailing back and forth a few times they finally decide the unit is defective and I need to send it back. Instead of sending me a replacement and sending back the defective unit in the box the replacement came in, they sent me a number to take to UPS to have them pack it up and send it. Did that. The next day I get an email with a prepaid UPS label. Dyson, pick one or the other. Either send the number to give to UPS or a prepaid label, not both. Over 10 days went by, no communication from Dyson. I reached back out to them for a status update. They asked for the tracking number. I gave that to them. They had it for 11 days by then and said it could take up to 15 days to be processed. Keep in mind, any response takes at least 24 hrs. It's now been 20 days they have had it and still no update. I reached out to them again 2 days ago and still no repsonse. I understand things can be defective from manufacturing but Dyson's warranty exchange process on a $500 stick vac is horrendous. I've been without a vacuum for a month now. Because of this, I cannot recommend any Dyson product to anyone.
