Q: Does this Dyson model vacuum shag carpeting? I tried the V15 model and it did not. It was amazing on hard surface flooring but when I tried it on carpeting with a thick pile, it did not work.

Not good at all.
I bought this in the Black Friday sales. The top of the machine is too heavy. The trigger switch from other versions has been replaced by a tiny on/off button. The hard floor head is way too small (narrow). The carpet head doesn't roll smoothly. You do have to replace one with the other instead of having a dual purpose head like before. It does have strong suction. Overall, it is a very annoying machine.

Strong performance held back by poor battery life
Here’s an updated version with that detail added: ⸻ ⭐️⭐️ 2 out of 5 I really want to love the Dyson Gen5, but I’m running into a big issue that’s hard to ignore. I bought this just two weeks ago, and the battery only lasts about 15 minutes on the lowest setting. That’s nowhere near enough to get through my home — and half of it is hardwood. I have to stop and recharge in between, which defeats the purpose of a cordless vacuum. The pickup is genuinely great, but the battery performance makes it tough to use day-to-day. I’m not sure if this means something is wrong with my unit, but it’s been disappointing so far. I’m hoping this can be resolved because the vacuum has potential.

I bought this 2 weeks ago it is a fantastic vacum love the green lights on the hard floor head to see the dust you cant see with the naked eye. It is easy to assemble and not all that heavy to us i highly recommend this product , suction is very powerful...

Great to zip around the house with no cord. Kids can use it as well. Give great suction even out of a battery. Battery does just manages to a 4 bed house with a only minutes to spare, depending on setting though.

Excellent vacuum cleaner make s an awesome job of picking up the dog hair out of the carpet. Only think is it could do with a bigger dust tank. Other than that its an excellent cleaner. Our old V11 is going to the bach in the sounds as the cleaner there is useless, its not a Dyson!!.

I gave this rating as I am happy with my purchase, however I’m Not bloody impressed it doesn’t come with an attachment to get into windows and collect dead flys, the attachment I hsve from my 2 previous Dysons, don’t fit this model why Not. How much extra is this attachment. Let me know.

Expensive but extra features
Still new machine, battery life is misleading, I only just get the house done before it goes flat on medium mode. My V8 performed as well if not better, but I do like the dust head and light. Battery will only last if on Econ mode. I wouldn't be happy if I paid full price for this.

So far the machine has been great, with it's good battery time (25-40min), various accessories, charging stand, going from a DC23 corded to this allows to simply pickup and go. Just watch out for the motorised head, it can tend to create a great suction to certain carpets when the head's switch is in the closed state.

It’s light and easy to use and empty.
This is our second Dyson and it’s used for a Sit In Service that provides food for those less fortunate. We are a volunteer group and serve 60 people 2 nights a week. The Dyson is easy to use and does an amazing job of cleaning the dining room. All our volunteers are very impressed.
