Q: Does this Dyson model vacuum shag carpeting? I tried the V15 model and it did not. It was amazing on hard surface flooring but when I tried it on carpeting with a thick pile, it did not work.

My Dyson Gen 5 detect Absolute has a far better suction than my previous stick Dyson. I have found it a bit heavier but like been able to quickly change to the built-in dusting & crevice tool. It is great to see all the dust on the vinyl

STill early days, but very happy so far with the Gen5. I have a V11 at another property and very pleased with it - efficient cleaning, easy to maneuvre and light weight which is an important consideration as I get older, especially up and down stairs.A container for all the attachments would be useful. The built in border suction tool is a great improvement on the Gen5

We bought this to replace a new Dyson V8 that was a complete dud, not as good as our old V6 and was returned. The Gen5 is a really good vacuum. The only real downside is its size and weight. It is very heavy and more tiring to use but does a great job with advanced controls, capacity, run time and design.

It's of course a wonderful machine! My only issue is with new attachment feature that is built in. It is a bit cumbersome to remove the whole piece from the bottom to empty the bin. And then you press another button to take the extension off and expose the smaller piece. Sometimes it gets stuck and the whole attachment doesn't come off. I can see this process being more cumbersome over time.

Product good on hard floors. Normal carpets going good but some spots suchs to hard and gets stuck. Fluffy rugs are almost impossible to vacuum. You can only pull the dyson in a backwards motion. Overal it takes less time to vacuum than normal vacuum cleaner and battery life is reasonably good.

Being familiar with Dyson vacuums, my earliest model was the Cord free V6 which was reaching its end of life after near 9 years. This Gen5Detect Complete is a huge step forward in improved suction power, filtration, battery life and attachments. We have 2 level 4 bed house with tiled floors, plank boards and carpet apart from furniture. This machine does the lot without hesitation, smooth manoeuvrability and still battery remaining. We love the light indicating all the dust in the hard floors and the special motorised heads with hair removal bristles for all carpets (no more disassembly of the motor head of previous V6 Cordless which was a pain to do). I honestly couldn’t be happier with this purchase despite the high price, however, it is worth every penny. After you get your hands on it, you can’t go back. The only thing is the weight but I guess you will get use to it. Now I can enjoy a cleaner house throughout, with less effort and much more quiet motor than the previous one.
