submitted byBrand Expert - 6 months ago
Q: Is there a lid for the 14 oz mug? If not then why since it is required to get a better battery life?
submitted by fussy - 1 year ago
A: There are lids that can be purchased seperately for either the 14oz or 10oz mugs. By adding this accessory it will double the life of the battery.
submitted byBrand Expert - 1 year ago
Q: Does the charger come with an outlet plug for re-charging the battery? Or is it easy to replace the internal battery? Basically, how is the charger/battery kept charged?

My ember mug lasted just over one year. Support had me jumping through hoops to fix it to no avail. Then they offered me a used mug for the same price that i could buy a new one. Very disappointed. Good bye ember

The inability to get firmware and software updates are making the app unusable. The newest update won’t even allow the mug to connect to the app. As of now, I would NOT recommend this mug…

The cups are wonderful until the inside coating starts to come off. When I asked about it, was assured the pealing surface pieces are fine to consume??? Who wants to ingest more questionable materials? Not me. So sad about it too. Bought two mugs at two different times and both first discolored and then pealed after a year or so. Just in time for warranty end. As it is with most things in our throw away society.

“Stainless Steel” flaking off in a month

I bought a 10oz “stainless steel” mug a month ago thinking the inside of the mug would not flake off like the other ceramic mugs, but it does. This is very unacceptable for a stainless steel mug that costs more than the ceramic 14 oz mugs. I would never buy an ember mug again.
Died and No Response from Ember

Died after just a year. It happens so why the one star? Because Ember has ignored my emails. Its one thing for a product to fail but quite another when the manufacturer not only doesn't won't fix a problem but can't even be bothered to get back to customers.
Poor Design on Base/Charger

The mug is great. However, my mug is 18 months old and my 3rd charger is going out. They only seem to last 6 months. I’ve been very careful to not get it wet and careful when I set mug down. One of the base prongs keeps sinking. Poor design.

Unfortunately the pins on the charging coaster don’t last very long. My second one just broke and I refuse to pay for a 3rd. My daughter was so excited to give this to me as a gift - I’m sad she wasted her money.
Ember won’t honor their one year warranty

My ember mug stopped working after eight months after very light use. I tried using a second charger and it still would not charge my cup. I reached out to Ember support multiple times but they have yet to reply to me. I cannot in good conscience ever recommend a company that will not honor their one year warranty or even care to reply to their customers email.

Engineering and Quality Control Lacking

Bought my first mug four years ago, it lasted two years before the enamel on the bottom started flaking off. (It was always hand washed and never saw a single metal utensil of any kind.) Got a replacement two years ago, and now it's doing the same thing... so the mugs seem to have a two-year expected life. That's better than the charging coasters, though... they only last about a year before the pins lose their spring and stop working entirely. (I've had four of those now.) Given the cost of these things, I think it's reasonable to expect a longer life.
Horrible Customer Support

Thumbs down graphic, would not recommend

I've purchased several Ember mugs over the last 2 years and really liked the mug and how it kept my tea hot for a long period of time. But inevitably, as with any technology driven product, you will run into issues and when that happens, their customer support is frustratingly slow to respond. I ran into an issue with the charging coaster. It took their customer support 2 weeks just to get back to me and request serial number and photos, and after quickly providing that information to them, it took another two weeks for them to request the same information from me again and finally a month after that for them to offer to send a replacement coaster. It's really a shame that Ember doesn't seem to understand the importance of providing great customer support especially considering the price point for their products. They have forever lost a loyal customer in me, as I will never purchase another Ember product if I can't count on timely, effective responses from Customer Service.
Charging saucer only lasts like 4 months

Charging saucer only lasts like 4 months, I went through 2 of them now. I only hand washed the mug and did my best to thoroughly dry it before putting it on the charging saucer, but any amount of condensation by the metal nodules will eventually cause one of them to get stuck and stop making contact. Not worth the effort to try and dig it out, tough to take apart. Disappointed, I did use the mug a lot and when it worked, it worked pretty well.

Unfortunately the mug only lasted about 4 months of use before the battery and power completely stopped working. Ember support has been completely unavailable through multiple attempts to contact them over the last month. The mug was great initially but I wouldn't buy another becuase of this issue and the poor support.

Concept is great. And when it worked it was wonderful. Biggest issue is when it stops charging because of plate. No phone # to contact and customer service is the wurst
