Fun game for a group of friends. Easy to learn. The pigeon will make you laugh - just keeps cooing and sometimes even sounds like it might be drowning - and then it explodes!

Not to be confused with a similarly named, Pigeon Explosion, game, this is a fun party game from the creators of EK. Easy to learn, can be played by players of all ages, and is yet another knock out of the park. The EK team have continued to do a great job of expanding their offerings, and Exploding Pigeon is another great addition to the collection.

We pulled this out over the holiday weekend for a bling group of teens and they loved it! It’s like a mix of Pictionary, Charades, and Catch Phrase with some Hot Potato thrown in. And also Rock Paper Scissors. It’s basically all the normal chaos of any EK game. The directions were super clear and the games didn’t take forever, which is perfect for a party game. I also feel like you could make all sorts of your own variations on the rules and gameplay. Worth noting that you’ll need two AAA batteries and a small Phillips head screwdriver to get things rolling.

From the eight year old- “Very fun....I like how the chaoticness kind of rushes you...make sure you don’t read the cards out loud!”From the twelve year old- “Chaotically wonderful...a great, quick game to bring people together for laughing and a good time!”From the forty year old- “A little bit of everything- Pictionary, charades, cranium, and more ....great for all ability levels...fast-paced and challenging for everyone.”From the other forty year old- “Absolutely brilliant merging of a handful of classic games....if you can’t decide which game to play, just play Exploding Pigeons and you get a bunch at the same time!”

This game is easy to learn and feathers will soon be flying as teams battle it out over short, frantic rounds. Draw, mime and fight against the clock for victory in a frenzied game of hot potato.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I first laid eyes on this pigeon. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I loved playing! It was easy to learn, easy to plan and brought so much laughter. We were only able to play with three people but it was just as great. Pure chaos with so many laughs. I cannot wait to play with more people!

Fast And Furious Family Fun

We pulled this game out and played during our 4th of July BBQ, and had a lot of fun. The gameplay felt fast, so people could drop in and out of rounds without too much issue. People not familiar with "Exploding Kittens" had a hard time understanding why the Pigeon would be exploding, but luckily that didn't factor in to the enjoyment! The only thing we didn't love was the "reroll" side of the dice, it felt like all it did was frustrate people (which is likely the point!). But the intense countdown to an unknown, random timer led to everyone having a good time. I would not recommend this as the center of your game night, but a good game to pull out before/between other games!

When I put batteries into the pigeon and it started cooing, I didn’t know if I could concentrate on the game with all the noise. A few minutes later we were all laughing so hard that we could barely hear the pigeon! This fast paced game is so easy to learn, and if you make mistakes it just makes it funnier. Exploding Pigeon is the classic hot potato game with the addition of charades, Pictionary, rock paper scissors, and so much more! Your team must race to guess the word and pass the pigeon before it explodes. After the first two games we added this to our “must play” family game night stack. Super fun for all ages, I highly recommend this one!

Frenetic and mildly confusing the first time, but it grows on you

My family (wife and boys ages 13 and 17) and I played two sessions a couple of nights apart. The game was definitely smoother and more enjoyable on the second go-round, since we spent the first one learning the rhythm. Wife was unable to access the online tutorial--possibly under wraps until official release?--which she feels might have been helpful. It is advisable for players to be clear about player order to avoid confusion, and to agree in advance about such details as the proper technique for "rock, paper, scissors." Once we got a feel for it and were no longer learning on the fly, it was a lot of fun. Younger son described it as a cross between charades and the "Saw" franchise, ie, likely to induce the urge to kill a fellow player in short order. :) This is definitely a game for those with high mental and physical agility- the elderly and the drunk need not apply! My only critique of the physical game design is that using the discarded cards as point counters can lead to confusion if your piles get mixed up; dedicated scoring tokens (loose feathers? Pigeon droppings?) might work better.

Good Guessing Game

EK has produced another game with their twist on a classic. In this game, players have to get their team to guess a word either by normal Pictionary, Charades, or Taboo methods. Once a correct guess is made, the Exploding Pigeon is passed as a random amount of time ticks down. We liked this variable because teams never knew when to expect the end. There are several other outcomes that the shake of the die can produce to help the game from getting stale. One thinh we noticed after playing several times is that the stock stack of cards is somewhat small. Hopefully, in the future, more are added or there is a spot to grab words from the EK site. Really, any stanard word repository would work.Overall, a fun time, just wish there was a deeper deck to draw from so that the good times don't dry up too quickly.

Had a fun time trying out this new game from exploding kittens. Reminded me of a mix of taboo, catch phrase, and perfection. I played with 3 players and we had a good time facing off against each other. The paper, rock, scissor battles were intense! I can't wait to try this game out with a larger group! This game will be added to the party pile.

Exploding Pigeons is chaotic, simple fun that’s perfect for game nights

Exploding Pigeons is a hilarious and fast-paced card game where you feed your pigeons to keep them happy or sabotage your opponents by overfeeding theirs until they explode. It’s super easy to learn, and the silly concept keeps everyone laughing, but it’s definitely more about luck and chaos than strategy. If you want a quick, goofy game to kick off game night and get people engaged without overthinking, this one is worth adding to your collection.

Nerve racking table game.

Mix of charades, pictionary, and hot potato. The unknown time of each rounds timer makes things super anxious, but fast paced and exciting. My 4 star is because the packaging is wanting. It does not feel like it will hold up over time and when the plastic breaks the box has openings, so I fear loss of pieces.

This game was really fun to play at the beach and it was a fun party game without too many components. The speaker on the toy keeps things exciting and the pigeon feels solid so I'm not afraid of dropping it if it falls. I would imagine kids would have a lot of fun with this game as well.

Nothing complimented the crackle and pop of the 4th of July quite like Exploding Pigeon!

We busted this game out with the family in town for the 4th of July Holidays and it went bonkers! Everyone loved the fast paced action! There are word challenges that tease the team to guess with one word clues, sit-down charades, which somehow feels harder than full on free moving, and drawing challenges where you actually draw directly on Mr. Pigeon. The poor pigeon looked liked it had done some hard time in the slammer with all the body art it had on it by the time we were done. Lots of gleeful screams from adults and kids alike when the pigeon finally did explode. Which is just a complete BLAST to watch, but an absolute rattle to be the one holding the pigeon. The best part of this game, there is no limit to players, which is one of the hardest things about family or friend gatherings. Most games have a player cap and this one, like several other games from Exploding Kittens, allows for a roaringly fun massive game.

Exploding Pigeon is an amazing family game night game that leads to a lot of laughing and excitement. Trying to get the pigeon passed to the other team before it explodes, with the hilarious actions, made the game energetic, fast paced, and a hit with the family... particularly with the younger players. I would highly recommend this game to any group who likes energetic and engaging games.
