In the global race for space domination, a cryptologist must overcome his greatest mistake to help the granddaughter of a nuclear physicist decipher the clues to a top secret nuclear project before it falls into the hands of America's enemies.Book Synopsis
In 1964, a group of scientists called the Los Alamos Five came close to finishing a nuclear energy project for the United States government when they were abruptly disbanded. Now the granddaughter of one of those five scientists, aerospace engineer Elinor Mitchell, discovers that she has highly sensitive information on the project in her possession--and a target on her back.SNAP agent and former Navy cryptologist Kekoa Young is tasked with monitoring Elinor. This is both convenient since she's his neighbor in Washington, DC, and decidedly inconvenient because . . . well, he kind of likes her.
As Elinor follows the clues her grandfather left behind to a top-secret nuclear project, Kekoa has no choice but to step in. When Elinor learns he has been spying on her, she's crushed. But with danger closing in on all sides, she'll have to trust him to ensure her discoveries stay out of enemy hands.
Natalie Walters sucks you into the global race for space domination in this perfectly paced second installment of her SNAP Agency romantic suspense series.

Fatal Code by Natalie Walters is the Second book in her SNAP Agency series. Elinor Mitchell finds some hidden codes in her grandfather’s journals. Now her life is in danger because someone wants them. Kekoa Young, a former Navy cryptologist and a SNAP agent, steps in to try to protect Elinor and solve the mysterious code. The suspense was pretty intense. The only thing that I didn’t like was all the Hawaiian slang thrown in throughout the story. Elinor was the perfect balance for Kekoa. They complemented each other so well. I enjoyed learning more about the SNAP team. I received this book from the author for my honest review.

This was such an amazing romantic suspense story. It kept my interest from beginning to end with really engaging characters and storyline. I couldn’t put the book down once I started reading. I loved getting to know Kekoa and Elinor specifically who were the main characters in this story. I enjoyed getting to know Kekoa and his family backstory and his struggles with forgiveness and guilt. He was such a strong character-mentally and physically! Elinor was also an awesome character-strong, smart and wanting to carry on his grandfathers coding legacy and work. I enjoyed getting to know the other SNAP agency team characters Lyla, Jack, Garcia…they were all fun and memorable. I hope Garcia and Lyla get their own story because their “friendship” definitely needs exploring and encouragement. I cant wait to read more books by this author and hope there are more in this series. This story had nonstop action, suspense, clean romance, national secrets, coding, science nerds…absolutely LOVED it! I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.

Natalie Walter’s second book in the SNAP Agency series, Fatal Code is a fast paced, page turner that kept me reading. I loved the intricate story that she wove as we get to know more of the SNAP Agency team more intimately. I have to admit, although I am already a fan of Natalie Walters’ books, I was very excited to see one of the main characters be of partially Asian descent. It was also a treat to get to know Kekoa and the 808 culture through his conversations with ohana, his ubiquitous slippers and of course, the ono food, especially the Spam Musubi! Fatal Code had a an intricate plot that brought me to unexpected places and I was drawn in from the first page! “Look at the birds of the air, my sweet Ellie, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” Your heavenly Father has His eye on you, my little sparrow.” The Scripture washed over her with the kind of reassurance she’d longed for, the kind she didn’t always receive from her parents but was always readily offered by Gramps. Oh how she missed him. (Fatal Code) I loved this quote from the book reminding Elinor of the truth of scripture from her childhood. Although a work of fiction, scenes like this one, remind the reader of the impact scripture and encouragement have on us. The impact Elinor’s grandfather had in her life was profound and lasting. I loved how Natalie did this throughout the book as she told us more of Kekoa and Elinor’s stories. Elinor Mitchell is still mourning her grandfather. Like her scientist grandfather, Elinor has also embraced her scientific mind and works as an aerospace engineer. As brilliant as she is beautiful, she and her team are working on a project that will be soon unveiled. In the midst of her own work, Elinor begins looking more closely at the notebooks her grandfather left behind. What she doesn’t realize is others want what her grandfather left her and they will do whatever it takes to get it. Kekoa Young is the SNAP Agency’s resident computer genius and formerly a Navy cryptologist. He finds himself assigned with the job of monitoring Elinor Mitchell to determine if she is being deceptive and disloyal to her company and country. This was a wonderful installation in the SNAP Agency series and I’m anxiously looking forward to the third book!

The story of Kekoa was absorbing as he is a favorite character of mine from the series. His backstory about a tragedy that occurred in Hawaii was sad but explained a lot about him as a person. In this book, he is tasked with finding out whether his neighbor Elinor is a traitor or not. It appears that she is selling secrets to Russia and Kekoa has to protect her as well as discover the truth. The characters are well fleshed out and the plot is fast paced and absorbing. Excellent addition to the series, but it can be read as a standalone.

Warning! Do not read this book after a manicure! Fatal Code is an intense heart-pounding suspense story that kept me biting my nails!! It's also the faith-infused tale of two people who need to learn how to trust as they work together to protect clues relating to a secret nuclear energy project that was abruptly canceled in 1964. Best of all, there is a sweet but thrilling romance between two self-proclaimed nerds! Who wouldn't enjoy this book? The SNAP Agency in Washington, DC has some great employees, and we're given a chance to see them in action once again, but former Navy cryptologist Kekoa Young is the main focus of this story. Can he crack the secret code, and keep it, and Elinor Mitchell, safe from the people trying to find it? Will this big 'teddy bear of a man', who believes that he is a nerd, prove that he can woo a lady with the best of them? This second book of The SNAP Agency series is captivating, and I'm anxious to see where author Natalie Walters takes us next. I recommend Fatal Code to all who enjoy romantic Christian suspense! I received a copy of this book from the author and publisher. There was no obligation for a positive review. These are my own thoughts.
Highly Reoommend!

I LOVED reading Kekoa's story in Fatal Code. This second book in the SNAP Agency series had me turning pages, laughing, and grabbing a kleenex as I followed the dangers and the journey that both SNAP agency and former Navy cryptologist Kekoa Young, and Aerospace Engineer Elinor Mitchell find themselves on. "Is your ring-tone a launch countdown?" She curtsied. "I'm not sure you understand the nerdiness in your presence." I got a kick out of Elinor's scientific nerdiness and the t-shirts to go with it, the fun banter within the Agency, the joy experienced by Kekoa and Elinor when they spent time together, and I needed kleenex for a scene with Kekoa and his Dad. It was great to have the team (Jack Hudson, Lyla Fox, Nicholas Garcia and Kekoa Young) from the SNAP Agency back to solve more crimes and prevent world catastrophes. Kekoa would rather be at the office in the computer war room using his skillset than reluctantly doing the job he was tasked with; to keep an eye on his neighbor Elinor. Elinor recently lost her grandfather and inherited his journal, she is unaware of the highly sought after classified information in the back, and the danger that places her in. "It was in pencil.... not words. It was some kind of symbols she didn't recognize... Beneath it was something she recognized-pseudo codes...What kind of program was her grandfather working on?" Some of my favorite quotes: "One of his favorite hymns to sing was "Hi Eye is on the Sparrow." "The brave attempt to smile and assure those talking with her about her grandfather that she would be okay. She had no idea she'd just become a pawn in a deadly game." "Math-predictable. Men-unpredictable." "What loss had Kekoa experienced that gave him such an intimate connection to her own?" "The thrill of knowing that a project she had put her heart and soul into could be used by the United States Space Force and how proud Gramps would be." This story touches on themes of loss, grief, healing, loyalty, as well as all those called family. I loved the times they took breaks and experienced joy with water fights, sliding, and dancing. I highly recommend Fatal Code and the who SNAP Agency series! Thank you to the author, publisher, and net galley for allowing me to read an early copy. All opinions are my own.

At first I thought this book was going to be a difficult one to finish. There is a Hawaiian character which led the author to use the word brah, slang for brother, thirty-eight times. Annoying, the repetition, not the character. There were also references to a popular television show that some, perhaps many, readers of Christian fiction would likely opt not to watch due to its content, thus the references lack any positive impact. It also made me wonder about the author's choice to basically promote the show. However, since the plot was interesting and well played, I did finish the book. It involved espionage, murder, and cyber-security, so the author hadn't gone completely wrong. I am grateful to have received a complimentary copy of Fatal Code from Revell via NetGalley without obligation. All opinions expressed here are my own.

Fatal Code is the second book in the SNAP Agency series by Natalie Walters. Although you encounter many of the same characters from the first book, you do not have to have read the first book to enjoy this book. Walters does an amazing job developing both the main characters and the minor characters. As you get to know the characters, you will find some underlying humor. Their unique personalities are very captivating. The complexity of the plot appeals to those who enjoy suspense. This book is a fast read and extremely hard to put down. I would definitely recommend it. Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book in order to give an honest review.

I thoroughly enjoyed my second visit with the SNAP Agency team in Natalie Walters’ Fatal Code. I loved the action and intrigue that kept me turning page after page. The team from the first book is back, this time focusing on Kekoa, a tough, but tender guy who knows his stuff around computers. Walters shows her love of all things Hawaiian in this character and his expressions and actions. I found this entertaining and fun. His romantic interest is a very likable character named Elinor who has information that may be placing her in danger. She is cute, nerdy, and a perfect match for Kekoa. I love Walters’ writing – a perfect blend of romance, suspense, intrigue, and humor. I consider Natalie Walters one of my must-read authors. In this book, she does not disappoint. I was given a copy of this book by the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Fatal Code is the latest installment in the SNAP Agency series by Natalie Walters. I fell in love with Kekoa's character in Lights Out so I was stoked when I found out his story would be book 2 in the series. I was there for it and was not disappointed! Kekoa's smart, loyal, protective, food-loving teddy bear self made him such a great hero in this story. The science nerd in me absolutely adored Elinor as well with all her science jokes and tshirts. Even though all the computer stuff was over my head, I really enjoyed the page turning suspense and to finally find out what was really going on and who was behind everything! I have always loved when suspense authors incorporate a team aspect into their series which has just added to my enjoyment of these books. This book quickly became my favorite in the series and will be tough to beat! However, I am so excited for Lyla and Garcia's story to try to top this one! Thank you to the author and publisher for a copy of this book. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

I loved it! This story has two plot lines intertwining, Elinor Mitchell is an aerospace engineer working on a top secret project called Van Gogh and is being monitored for possible espionage. In the mean time her grandfather passes away and she discovers in his journal a secret code and that he was one of the Los Alamos Five who were close to finishing a nuclear energy project for the United States back in 1964. Kekoa Young is a cryptologist who works for the SNAP agency and has been tasked with keeping an eye on Elinor. This story if full of intrigue, a touch of romance, humor (I liked the science jokes), suspense, code breaking, and it's inspirational. Elinor and Kekoa have issues in their pasts that they have to overcome to beat the evil fighting against them.

Well, Kekoa turned out to be just as fabulous as I'd hoped after reading Lights Out, Natalie Walters' first book in the SNAP Agency series. Between his muscle bound, tattooed Hawaiin physic and his tender, filled-with-pain-from-the-past heart. He was perfect! If for no other reason than Kekoa, I highly recommend this story. BUT, he's not the only enjoyable thing in this book. The SNAP Agency is super interesting, the dynamics between the team is super complex, yet oh so enjoyable, and I learned so much about how Agency's like these function. I appreciated and enjoyed this book from beginning to end! I received a complimentary copy of this book through the publisher and NetGalley. All opinions expressed are my own.

Cheehooo! Hawaiian word that expresses excitement! That’s how I felt when I read this book! Well, many other feelings as well: excitement, intrigue, heartache, LOVE, tenderness, lots of emotions. And I think I felt so many things because the characters made me fall in love with them and made me ache with their loss, self-doubt and unworthiness, and the need of family bonds. They both had similar struggles with discovering their true worth, due to past issues that weren’t their fault, but they affected them deeply. This story was amazing! It surpassed my expectations, which were already high after the first book. The best thing of it all were the characters. Kekoa was so lovable, so loyal, protective, funny, light hearted. Yet very vulnerable. He loves with passion, and he’s afraid to love because of his fear of loss. My heart ached for the misplaced guilt he carried for his brother’s death. This part of the story even made me cry at the end, the way he finds redemption and gets his family back. Elinor also needed healing. Had erected a wall around her heart. The rejection of her parents, their absence in her life had inflicted a deep wound in her heart, making her feel insecure about her worthiness. Other than her grandfather, in Kekoa, she finds that lost security, of being someone valuable, cherished. And I love how they both discover that ultimately, it is God who loves us the most and in a totally unconditional way. I loved Kekoa’s Hawaiian expressions, it made the book so fun and authentic. Even if the author didn’t translate most of the Hawaiian words, it’s easy to know what they mean because of the context. I also laughed out loud at Elinor’s science nerdy jokes, or her nerdy t-shirts. It was so endearing! The romance was so sweet and tender, I loved how Kekoa respected her and admired her. It was torture for him to have to spy on her, when he was sure she was innocent. The plot was riveting. The villains were awful, and it keeps you guessing until the end to who is the criminal and culprit. It had unexpected twists, and I had more than one surprise at the end! It’s a completely unputdownable book! And best of all -or worst, since it’s going to be a long wait for the next book next year-, is the team loyalty and support. I love their bonds, their teasing, everything. So, I can’t wait for Nicolás and Lyla’s story!! I’m sure it’s going to be awesome too. You can get a sneak peek chapter at the end to get you picqued! My best quote, Gramps words: “Pray in the little things too, Elinor. Depend on the One who cares about everything -the grass, the flowers, even the sparrows.” I highly recommend this story! A must read!

3.5 stars "Just what kind of secrets has Elinor stumbled on?" SNAP Agency Agent Kekoa Young is not at all certain that he wants to take on what amounts to an undercover assignment surveilling his neighbor, Elinor Mitchell. The two have literally run into each other a couple of times and Kekoa has a hard time believing that Elinor could be involved in any kind of nefarious activity, yet what little evidence the agency has managed to uncover points directly to her, or more accurately, to her computer. On the other hand, she is a brilliant aerospace engineer working on a highly sensitive design dubbed Van Gogh with potential value for the Department of Defense, making the project vulnerable to international theft, which seems to be exactly what is happening under her watch. "Let's start over. Kekoa, your neighbor and rescuer of metal shelves." Mourning the loss of her beloved grandfather, Elinor Mitchell is sifting through some of Arthur Conway's journals, discovering that the renowned nuclear physicist left some of his notations in code. What a coincidence that her neighbor, Kekoa, is a former Navy cryptographer. As Elinor and Kekoa begin spending more time together, her deep-seeded loneliness begins to lift. Maybe there is someone on the planet who understands and appreciates her nerdy science jokes, maybe God's eye has been on His "sparrow" after all. After reading the first book in this series, if you loved Kekoa's winsome personality encapsulated within a linebacker's physique, then you are in for a treat! But make no mistake; the stakes are high! I received a copy of this book from Baker Publishing through Interviews and Reviews. I also purchased a copy. The opinions stated above are entirely my own.

Fatal Code is book 2 in The SNAP Agency series. I highly recommend reading Lights Out (and even the prequel Initium) before reading Fatal Code as it references events that occurred in the previous book. On to my review… Can I just start by saying I love Kekoa? If you’ve read Natalie Walters’ Harbored Secrets series, you may even recall he has a small role in Silent Shadows. In Lights Out, we learn he’s become a team-member of the SNAP Agency. Fatal Code gives us more of who Kekoa is and some of his back story. I think he’s a wonderful character—hunky and smart combined with a sweet and sensitive nature. I enjoyed the tension between Elinor and Kekoa as they got to know each other. I especially enjoyed how this story had me laughing one moment at a character’s joke or silly antic, but then the next chapter had me crying. I literally needed a tissue once or twice. All the feels for me! There’s plenty of tension and suspense. And I didn’t figure out who the ultimate “bad guy” was until the reveal. (Good job, Natalie!) I liked so many details about this story, one of my favorite aspects of the mystery being the use of ciphers and pseudocodes. So interesting! I’m looking forward to reading Lyla and Garcia’s story in the next book! My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5) I received an ebook ARC of Fatal Code from the publisher Revell via NetGalley. All opinions expressed in this review are my honest thoughts about this book.

"Your courage comes not from a name, but by the way you live the life God sets before you. It requires us to stake everything we believe, to surrender our lives, on our faith in God." The SNAP Agency is fast becoming one of my favorite group of crime-fighting geniuses. I fell in love with Natalie Walters' writing with the first book in the series and this follow up confirms her placement in my favorite suspense author category. Nail-biting suspense is perfectly paired with an unlikely romance between two fascinating characters. The solid faith thread creates a deeper layer to the awesome plot that has twists and turns and possible villains around every corner. If you enjoy romantic suspense, you don't want to miss this book by Natalie Walters. I loved Kekoa's big teddy bear self with easy-going personality but also loved that his past regrets and grief came to light in this book to show us the real Kekoa. His snarky banter with Lyla, one of his colleagues, is always fun and witty. His cute, sweet, and often awkward interaction with Elinor was heart-warming and lovely. Elinor is different from Kekoa but shares the same grief of losing a dearly loved one and is inexplicably drawn to him. In the midst of betrayals, confusion, and attacks from multiple angles, Elinor works with Kekoa and SNAP to solve the riddle that's connected to long-buried secrets. I received the book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All comments are my own.
