Fiercely independent, she has to admit that perhaps this time she could use a little help.
As the threat of eruption grows, former cop Cullen Landry refuses to leave his cabin in the evacuation area, which is why he's the only one left who can help Kit escape the crumpled cab of her truck. He doesn't want to get tangled up in the mystery of the beautiful woman with an abandoned infant, but when he sees the bullet hole in the windshield and the bloody handprint on the interior, he realizes that he's in this thing, like it or not.
When two armed men with ill intent approach, the race is on to stay alive, discover the truth, and find the baby's missing mother--all while a deadly mountain rains fire from above.

I received this book as an ARC with no expectations of a positive review. Kit was going to make this one run before Mount Ember erupted. Next thing Kit remembers is a man waking her outside her rig. She is sore and her head hurts. She has no idea how she ended up on his road. Nor does she know how a baby ended up in her rig. Join Kit, Cullen and baby "Tot" as they try to piece together how "Tot" ended up in her rig that is no longer drivable, an active volcano ready to errupt and men who are after them with no idea why. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat. It is a must read for all suspense readers.
A mesmerizing story!

Fire Mountain is my favorite book by Dana Mentink. I loved the suspense, danger, and the threatening volcano. This story was a page turner. Once I started reading, I could not put the book down. The author created great characters. I found myself rooting for them (I wanted them to survive this ordeal). I enjoyed all the twists and turns that kept me at the edge of my seat (and staying up late to see how the story would end). There is romance as well. The vivid descriptions made me feel like I was there with Kit and Cullen (and Tot). I could feel their emotions as well. I enjoyed Fire Mountain from start to finish. I can tell the author did her research on volcanoes and it was interesting to learn about them. I like how faith was woven into the story. Fire Mountain is a mesmerizing story with a wrecked eighteen-wheeler, baffled about a baby, a frightening volcano, a helpful hermit, armed men, a treacherous trek, and hopeful prayers.
Fabulous!

This was such a fantastic read! It grabbed me from the opening pages and it did not let go until the end! I loved so many things in the story: the library shelter, the development of the relationship between Cullen and Kit, my absolute favorite character-Archie, the excitement and danger, everything. I read a lot of suspense novels and this is one of the best I’ve read. It was such a great story! I received this book from the publisher and was not required to post a positive review. All thoughts are my own.
Your plan, God's plan, and yours doesn't count.

On May 18, 1980 I was outside checking the growth on our little garden when there was the most horrific boom that rattled the door behind me. Shortly thereafter came a very strange smell which had me heading immediately indoors. The news came out that Mount St. Helens had erupted. I was many miles away from this natural disaster, but it left a permanent impression on my mind. The author has taken that history and brought it to life. Kit Garrido, a big rig driver, finds herself in an unknown area with no recall of why she would have driven down this road. Mount Ember is rumbling and her rig is wrecked. Blood on the seat, a baby in a car seat, someone shooting at her and a rescuer that says she must leave the relative safety of her truck is just the beginning of the danger facing these 3 as they try to survive a disaster of unspeakable proportions. You will hold your breath and pray….Will they make it out alive? A copy of this incredible story was received through Revell, Baker Publishing Group and NetGalley. These thoughts are my own and were in no way solicited.
