Garmin Index S2 Smart Scale - White

I purchased this scale to get some sense of body composition at home. I recognize there could be different readings from different platforms, technologies, and instrumentation, but the Index S2 differs from recent InBody scale readings and DexaScan results by over 60%. I suppose it still provides reasonable "directional" results to show progress, but the numbers or near meaningless. I was also looking at the Hume Health Body Pod but went with Garmin to have all my metrics in one place (Garmin Connect App). In hindsight, I wish I had gone with Hume.

The product itself is fine but the battery life is dreadful! After an year with the product, the scales last about 1-2 weeks with new batteries.

The scale doesn't always turn on when stepped on, and readings vary by almost 5% for the same person measured a few minutes apart

Does not stay synchronized to wifi. Not sure how accurate it is. Overall sleek look but disappointed with software.

I returned it due to the lack of a 2.5 WiFi. My provider is xfinity and they don’t offer 2.5. Garmin needs to fix this because otherwise I think it’s a great product!

Having trouble getting the scale to sync with my phone

I share it with 2 people at home I have to reset it every single morning after someone else uses it because it can’t tell the difference between users. I weigh myself and it gives me a weight and different user. I reset it and it gives me my weight and user ID. How is the weight different 30 seconds apart?

The scale measures and chronicles all critical weight and body content. It syncs really well with the Garmin. App. Absolutely love it. That being said added other users has not been simple.

I bought this expensive “smart” scale, only to find out that it connects only to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. Modern routers use both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. Many combine them into one network and Index S2 has trouble connecting to this setup. I should not have to buy additional networking equipment just to connect a smart scale to my home Wi-Fi. For a product at this price, I expected much better Wi-Fi compatibility. Very disappointing. It feels like a waste of money.

I like my scale a lot. I knocked off one star because it can be very finicky when linking to a phone which can be frustrating. Otherwise, it's great and I love how it links with Garmin Connect so all of my info is in one place.

I haven't had this scale even a year yet, and it's worthless. Right out of the box I had connectivity issues, but somehow got it to work. Well I went on vacation for 2 wks, came back, it said that it hadn't synced since 2 days before I left...and no matter how I try...and I've tried every trick A.I. has advised me on...I can't get it to hold the wifi, even on 2.4 mhz, or even recognize me now, and I'm the only user. I'm going to call them and either get a replacement (although I don't think that will matter) or some kind of compensation. 200 dollar paperweight!!

I spent 4 hours attempting to get the scale to connect to my home Wi-Fi. Very disappointing experience as I have had 3 garmin watches and the original garmin scale. I love garmin and always recommend to family and friends. Unfortunately, this product was a disappointment. I ended up returning the product.

Once I got it working its been great! Be warned that it might take a few minutes while the computer/scale makes any updates. The directions mention this but there's no messaging on the unit while the update is actually happening.

On our scale we have two users. For my wife it works fine, for myself the weight just bounces around never settles and never gets a reading. I have tried multiple restarts, and nothing helps. I would not recommend this scale to anyone as it is usless to myself.

The rating is really for setup, not the scale. Setting up a second person was absolutely horrible, going through the connect app I could do nothing to connect the second person just a endless loop of the scale resetting and deleting the current user. After many attempts and way to much time involved I was about to sent the scale back. I then researched online and found many others with the same issue going back as far as four years ago. I finally found a thread where someone said to use the garmin connect on the desktop computer to add the second user, that worked. Shame on Garmin for not fixing a bug in their app that caused a lot of frustration, I'm sure many scales have been returned for the same issue. The scale itself is very nice and works great.

Buying this product I had high expectations since I have multiple garmin tools. Unfortunately right off the back I was disappointed! The weight was inaccurate, the body fat percentage was off and the muscle amount was off as well. For a good while I was unable to calibrate the scale due to an update that would not process. Fortunately I stumbled onto this speed bump and figured out the problem. The slick look is fine and all but what im interested in is accuracy and functionality! This scale isn't it! Honestly if I continue to have problems I'll either return it or just give it away. Extremely disappointed...

This product just doesn't work with modern routers like google wifi that dont allow to specifically broadcast 2.5ghz. I followed every possible solution, and nothing worked.

This scale is great and accurate. One major issue I have with it is that it goes through the 4 AA batteries once a week.
