Water resistant but features need finesse

I've had the vivosmart5 for a couple of months now after 15 years with another brand. The Vivosmart has great features, but it doesn't start timing a run until 5 minutes in, and trying to manually set the activity to start initiates requests for all the time location data from my phone (I have it set to when the app is open, which is usually)...and I don't run with my phone so manual tracking is a bit awkward. Working to find a way around these quirks.

I got this about a month ago and I love everything about it except I can't figure out how to check the device battery level except when it pops up and says low battery.

I like it better than Fitbit, but....

The really wonderful thing about this is how lite and easy it is to wear. Garmin Connect is also a major plus. Its intuitive and syncs with Apple Health which I really appreicate. I do not like the auto-activity feature. Its not as reliable or as easy to use as fitbit. the interface on the watch itself is unintuitive and confusing. Any setting on the watch should be configurable from the App. Your making a mistke making these sensors into a stylish screen of settings...its why Apple Watch completely fails. This is about the activity, not the device. Overall pleased. Needs work.

I have had the device about 4 weeks and really like it. The way it interfaces seamlessly to my smart phone is great. It is accurate. It also is very comfortable. It is hard to tell I am wearing it.

This is my second Garmin tracker. I had the Vivofit 4 that just died after 6 years. I upgraded to the vivosmart 5 for health reasons and am very happy with it.

I wish I never stopped using my 4. This 5 keeps shutting down. Restart it and it stops through the night. Not happy. Need to keep syncing. Went to my phone carrier three times, blue tooth is working fine. Now this morning I had to reregister again to see my results.

I will receive this two weeks ago and so far it has been really helpful. There are still some things that I’m still trying to figure out on how to work it. I am so glad that I have this. It is worth getting One to help keep track of my fitness activities, my heart rate, and whole bunch of other things.

I’m very happy with all the tracking provided! Steps, movement, exercise, pool swimming, climbing and sleep. I am getting great breakdowns of my sleep patterns as well as all the fitness functions! I can also see texts with it.

Does everything I need except doesn’t give automatic blood pressure readings. Another great thing is I don’t have to have a Gmail account to enjoy my watch and see the readings.

Seems impossible to export HR data

Bought two of these to track HR on two team members and there does not appear to be any easy way to get the HR data into a computer ! I know it there as I can see the graph of HR v Time, but no apparent option to export ! Not so smart !! Directions are vague at best support is terrible as they point you to an article instead of fixing and/or walking u through the process. The article they pointed to was to export all your data and Gsrmin has to send you a link to do it AND can take between 2 and 30 days to get the link - how crazy is that???

I bought this to replace my vivofit4 because the battery died and the screws to replace the battery are impossible to remove. I loved the vivofit4, and not only could I not remove the screws to replace the battery, it's not for sale anymore. The vivosmart5 is difficult to navigate, and I have to recharge the battery after less than 24 hours, without fail. That makes the readings all out of whack. I won't be purchasing another Garmin device in the future.

Do steps count?

Switched from FitBit to Garmin. Most frustrating is the steps tracker is WAY off since it only counts by full arm swing. Mowed the lawn? Virtually no steps. Pushed a cart around Costco? Virtually no steps. Works fine as a watch, not so much for trying to track steps.
