HALO Innovations Essential Breathable Crib and Toddler Mattress

The mattress is a a little thinner than the one I was previously using for my little one in her crib. However, I like that the cover is removable and easy to clean. Often times my little one leaks through at night so being able to easily clean the mattress if needed is a huge plus! Although it says it’s waterproof, I still use a waterproof mattress cover under the sheet for extra protection for any types of spills, leaks or blow outs. As a whole I am happy with the mattress and I think my baby finds it comfortable based on how she sleeps through the night.

My daughter is now 19 months old and prior to receiving this mattress, we were using a different HALO crib mattress that I purchased before her arrival. After experience with two HALO crib mattresses, I can confidently say HALO makes high-quality products. Ever since my daughter learned to roll over, she has insisted on sleeping face down in her crib—ugh! Although she’s getting older, I was initially a bit nervous to try this mattress, worried it might not be as breathable as our previous one. However, after testing it myself by breathing into the mattress, I felt much more at ease using it, and my baby has been sleeping just fine! My daughter also tends to be a hot sleeper, yet with this mattress, she has stayed comfortable and hasn’t woken up sweaty. I also love that the cover is waterproof incase of accidents and easily machine washable. Overall, I have no complaints and would definitely recommend this mattress, especially given its price point!

I’m a mom of 2 (both currently still using a crib), and I nanny other children from my home (ranging from ages 6mo - 3yo), so I was very happy to test out this new crib mattress. It arrived in a slim, lightweight box, rolled up and saran wrapped. The look and design is what you would expect in most crib mattresses; white, sleek, and clean lines. The hidden zipper compartment on the cover was nice so that the crib sheet won’t get stuck or caught, preventing rips. I tested it out for both napping and overnight sleep; the children seemed comfortable and content on it. The breathable cover is a huge pro for me, as I have stomach sleepers. There were no chemical like odors that I could smell when setting it up. My favorite feature is that the outer cover is both waterproof and machine washable. Messes are inevitable to happen (be it blowouts or spit up or vomit) and being able to unzip the cover and throw in the wash without worrying about the core of the mattress getting soiled is so nice. I washed it as directed on the tag and it was good as new. It should be noted that the inner core of the mattress says to spot clean only; hopefully the waterproof cover will protect it from any big messes in the future. The one downside in my opinion is that it is not as firm as I would like. It seems to be a bit soft and on the thinner side. I wish there was a bit more support to it. At times, it’s a little noisy when you touch it or a child moves around on it. Overall, it’s a great value for a children’s mattress and I would recommend it to friends who are in the market for one!

I can’t help but praise how quiet this mattress is, this should be the standard! My baby definitely is getting quality sleep, thanks to this new upgrade. We genuinely love how breathable the material is, everyone in the house gave it a test. I have no worries when it comes to this mattress, so it also allows me to achieve the best sleep at night, which is truly a win for everyone. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this mattress in the mail and it was in this lightweight box vacuum sealed and easy to remove and open. First off, I loved the firmness of this mattress but also the overall comfort of it. I mean, I laid on it myself and it was actually more comfortable than my personal mattress. I also love that the waterproof cover is zippered and removable which makes washing easy. I love how even though this cover is waterproof it is not hot or clammy to sleep on it has a cool breathable design to help keep the mattress cool and keeps your baby dry if there is an accident on the mattress, it wicks it away from your baby. I also love how the waterproof over is not loud and plastic sounding when you put your baby on it. It is super quiet and I wouldn’t even know it was waterproof unless I took the cover off. Under that cover is another zippered cover to add another layer of protection to your mattress. My baby LOVES sleeping on it and will stay asleep longer and not toss and turn as much as his precious crib mattress. I would definitely recommend this to any moms who are looking for an awesome and comfortable high quality safe crib mattress. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We loved this mattress! It is the first mattress I've seen with a removable waterproof cover that can be easily removed for cleaning. It is still safely firm, but the cover has a plusher side to it that offers slight cushion. My baby was very comfortable and slept well. It came in a small box (for a mattress) and did not release any smells when immediately being opened - which was important to us! We could use it right away! The cover sippzer opens wide enough that the mattress slides in and out well. The whole cover could go in the wash and it held up well through washing and going right back on the mattress. I’ll be honest that I’m typically one to avoid a breathable crib mattress because I feel the products look too soft for my liking. I’m really strict on safe sleep and using a firm mattress so I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous to let my baby sleep on this even though it follows safety standards. Upon opening the mattress and letting it come to shape I was really surprised to see it was about half as thick as the one we’re currently using. I figured that can’t be too comfortable, but our baby proved me wrong! I was nervous about switching anything up with sleep as we’ve been experiencing a bit of a regression but she took to the mattress very well. She is sleeping 10 hours straight on this! Is there anything more you can ask for? Actually yes, there is. Because babies are babies and they can be gross and unfortunately we have a puker. I don’t have to use a separate protector (I always keep one on all mattresses) because the breathable cover is machine washable AND can be put in the dryer. Being able to ditch extra mattress covers actually feels really nice and clears a space in the closet where they stay. Overall this mattress doesn’t have any weird waterproof liner noises, it’s seemingly comfortable (baby can’t talk to tell me that yet but she’s sleeping like a rock on it), it’s washer and dryer friendly and fits perfectly in a standard crib with no gaps. I really can’t ask for more. I wasn’t sure this was a product I’d continue to use after testing but I will not be going back to our old one!

I have always been a fan of halo products and have used their bassinet and sleep sack in the past and have always been impressed with the quality. This mattress did not fall short! Being a nurse and a mom to 4, safe sleep is very important to me. I love how this mattress is breathable yet very firm! My daughter has been flipping onto her stomach to sleep, by herself, since 10 weeks old. Having a truly breathable mattress gives me the peace of mind while I sleep that she is Okay. The ease of being able to just stick the washable cover into the washing machine AND dryer is a game changer to me! My other mattresses didn’t have this washable cover and it was hard to keep on spraying it almost everyday and seeing all the stains on it! I have been thoroughly impressed with the quality and features of this mattress, and knowing my past experiences with Halo’s quality I’m sure it will last me many years!

The most important thing, is that Halo follows all of the safe sleeping recommendations. It’s so lightweight and breathable! It also has a removable cover which makes washing it so easy and those waterproof covers unnecessary (I always used the covers because well I don’t want a ruined mattress but I absolutely loathe them so tossing those was my favorite thing to do)! I received this mattress from the Stellar Product testing Panel, but after using it for a week my toddler loved it so much we purchased a second one for her toddler bed. Her words “this is my coziest bed ever momma”. My baby is also sleeping soooo well with this new mattress also. We have two happy kiddos and even happier and well rested parents. I also purchased this for a friend when I saw a mattress in her registry. Was not this mattress but she was so stoked that I picked this one instead. I will preface that we have had one-year of sleeping problems with my one-year-old baby. My baby has been sleeping longer stretches on this firm mattress. My baby was comfortable and stayed asleep; I love that this mattress helps me put her down easily without any noise or movement. The mattress fits perfectly in the standard crib without any gaps that we parents stress over. The breathable cover also gives a peace of mind; it is easy to clean to help keep the baby healthy, as well as breathable to keep the baby safe. My favorite part is how easy it is to clean. Being able to keep the cover and mattress clean will help this stand the test of time - my family plans on using this mattress for the baby as they move into toddler years and beyond! Which makes the completely reasonable price even better! I would definitely recommend it to a friend!

I opened it up and let it sit for about 24 hours for it to completely expand, and that was a simple process. It didn’t smell of chemicals or anything else, so that made me happy. It’s nice and soft with also being firm enough for a baby, and my toddler has slept great on it, and he hasn’t gotten hot on it. I love the breathable cover and have already had to wash it, and it was very easy. Overall, I’d recommend this, as it is a great crib mattress at a great price point with the biggest “plus” being the breathable and washable cover! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was pleasantly surprised by this mattress. It came compressed and rolled up in a rectangular box, but was easy to unpack and decompress. It didn't have any directions about how long to let it decompress, but I left it overnight and it seemed to be fine. It is very lightweight, making it easy to move and get in the crib, but it still seems firm and comfortable enough for my older infant. It fit snugly in my standard crib, with no gaps around the edges. I like the removable cover, but it only comes with one cover, so I still used a mattress pad in case of any accidents. I feel like it's sturdy enough, but since it is all foam, it will take some time to see how it holds up. My only complaint is that I didn't see any instructions, which would have been helpful in unpacking and setup to make sure I gave it adequate time to decompress after being in the box. I would also like an extra mattress cover, because I don't think the foam mattress would be useful without the waterproof cover. When it first arrived, I was truly questioning how a crib mattress fit in the box it came in and didn’t have high hopes. I opened it and was pleasantly surprised how the quality felt. It was thinner than our previous mattress but the quality was there. The material was soft, the cover was easy to clean, the mattress was firm and most importantly…it was significantly less noisy than our previous mattress. I don’t know why baby mattresses make noise but this one was so great. It didn’t wake baby up and he sleeps peacefully on it. My one critique, which wasn’t a big deal, the tape used to keep the mattress in the box rolled up, stuck to the liner on the bottom and left a teeny tiny hole. It wasn’t a big deal and didn’t affect the construction of the mattress but worth noting incase another adhesive can be used in the future.

It’s a perfect snug fit for my babies crib and isn’t as bulky or rigid as some mattresses on the market. When I took it out of the box, it expanded to a nice firmness and was easy to clean before placing it in the crib. I currently use a breathable mattress protector and breathable crib sheet with the product to ease my mind about safety for the baby. My husband even shoved his face into the mattress to test the “breathability” part. So far so good! Baby sleeps well and it checks all the boxes as a decent priced competitor in the market.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our daughter (22 months old) seems very comfortable on this Halo crib mattress! We are very happy with it. Of course toddler sleep is all over the place but the first night she slept on this she slept for 11 hours straight! So it must be pretty comfy! After opening the box and unrolling the mattress we let it sit for a day or two in our guest room so it could fully fluff up. I put a standard fitted crib sheet on it and it fit easily and snugly into our crib. I love that the mattress cover is breathable (gives us peace of mind) and washable (a MUST with so many possible messes with a baby/toddler!). The soft mesh layers feel very nice and it zips off to wash very easily. The mattress feels soft enough to be comfortable and firm enough to make me feel confident in the safety of it for our baby to sleep on.
