Well, it died today. Our previous KitchenAid microwave lasted over 18 years. This one didn't make 2.5 years.

Extremely DIsappointed. I had the predecessor to this microwave and the door handle broke, so had to break it get the food out! I replaced it with this microwave and new trim kit, 5 years ago and now its not working. Service provider said it would cost more to fix than a new one. The replacement to this one has a different 30 inch trim kit. However this trim kit is longer than the previous one and doesn't fit my cabinet. I have tried to reach Kitchenaid to try to find a solution and cannot get a response.

I purchased this in late 2020. It gets very light use, and the other day my girlfriend was heating up a mug full of water for her tea and it started smoking. We immediately unplugged it thinking it may catch fire. Took it outside to the garage and plugged it in. Everything comes on put it doesn't heat anything anymore. Very disappointing when you spend this kind of money, and it doesn't even last as long as a cheap one a fourth of the price.

Stopped working after 13 months

We have had this microwave for 13 months and they told us we are out of warranty and there is nothing they can do. It started out with the display lighting going in and out a couple weeks ago, to none of the buttons working at all now. Worked great for 13 months, and now doesnt work at all.

I'm very disappointed with the KitchenAid brand. After paying a high premium and getting an expensive microwave, it just stopped working in less than 2 years. And since I also have the KitchenAid trim kit, i feel like I'm trapped. Folks. Don't buy a KitchenAid microwave and save your money.

Purchased this microwave (KMCC5015GSS) about 5 years ago, the plastic door push button snapped in half and the LED readout is no longer functional. Slow to heat too. Now I need to replace it with something else and am having difficulty even finding something that will fit inside the 30' trim kit. I need to replace but am skeptical about buying KitchenAid/Whirlpool again.

KMCC5015GSS1 Stopped working after 5 years (which is poor given the price point). Seems clear its not worth attempting to repair. More annoying than anything is that this was fitted so it's going to take me forever to try to identify a new machine and trim that fits my space and set-up. Wish you did a better job standardizing on sizing and identifying what fits what. Your documentation on all this stuff stinks and the stuff on the Internet is inconsistent. The existing trim is MKC2150AS. Kitchenaid -- can you tell me if there is an actively sold machine that still fits this trim?

I have all kitchenaid appliances in my house and oh what a mistake. I got a couple of years out of the microwave and I’m being told that it cannot be serviced or repaired after the start button quit working. Unplug it and plug it back in was the best I could get out of kitchenaid. Save your money and buy anything else.

I started on October 17, was sent a second non-working unit, and finally the third oven arrived. I am still trying to figure out how to use it. I have always used Panasonic ovens which are superior in every way ESPECIALLY in operating -- very simple

We like it so much we bought another one when we moved - this house didn’t have a microwave built in. My wife likes the conventional convection oven for holiday cooking when more ovens is a good thing. Buttons work well, nice features, etc. we’ve not been disappointed with any aspect of it.

The convection oven part of it is terrible. I've tried cooking chicken nuggets, frozen pizzas, and cookies in it. Every single time the "oven" will cook the outside and not the inside or burn the outside. It also takes an eternity for it to heat up and "cook" these items. Even the times when the middle/inside was left raw it took longer than normal to cook. I reached out to customer support 2 weeks ago and haven't heard anything back as I'd like to return this item. Do not purchase this item. It is cheaper to just purchase a microwave and convection oven than it is to purchase this.

After 4 years moderate use, the digital display cannot be read because of too many failed pixels. Can’t even read the time. The push button bar opener is broken in half. Still works, but looks terrible. Waiting now for the door to fall off, or something like that. Worst part ….no available parts to repair it. Basically, it’s a throwaway and buy a new one from what used to be a reliable appliance maker … KitchenAide. I DO NOT recommend this product, and am done with KitchenAid in general.
