While this took slightly longer to develop than other dyes I’ve used, the color is very consistent and brown without being black, which is very hard to find. I had some misadventures with trying to highlight my hair and then dyed it reddish, then that faded into something awful mixed with grey. The before and after speaks volumes, IMO.

I agree the new formula does not cover greys as well and fades very quickly. I suddenly needed to color every 3 weeks! It also doesn't look anywhere near as natural. I've also been using this product for at least 2 decades and got compliments on my hair all the time. Not anymore. Time to switch!

Have been using L'oreal Excellence Creme haircolor for three years now and have been happy with the results. However, this new "improved" formula is inacceptable. It is not as thick and creamy upon application, it did NOT cover all my gray and my usual color (Medium Chestnut Brown - 5CB) faded dramatically within the first week and now is embarrassingly brassy red.

My hair was already light to begin with. I thought this would make it the color I was looking for. The box said so at least. This did NOTHING to my hair. Not a smidge different in any way. Very very disappointed. Was this even hair dye? Starting to question it lol

I've been using Revlon but decided to try this. First are the cons: The chemical smell of this product is so intense. It is also not as easy/intuitive as Revlon. I think there are more steps and when I conditioned my hair with the included cream, my hair felt stiffer than Revlon. I also bought ash brown, and even though my hair was brown black before this, I felt my hair looked darker than the ash brown I expected... Now the pros: I was ready to give up on this product, but the greatest pro is that unlike Revlon, I am impressed by the staying power of this dye. I am a bit of a germophobe, so I always wash my hair after going out, and with Revlon, I always felt anxious that my white hairs would spring up again on the top of my head where the dye easily wears off. For this one, even though I tried new products like clarifying shampoo or leave in conditioner, my hair remains dyed, no need to worry even if I put my hair up. Because of this I think I may just switch to this one. An hour of chemical smell may be worth it compared to having to dye my hair so frequently like before.

It’s okay. The color turned out good. I followed the instructions- my hair after feels dry and my scalp feels slightly irritated . I don’t really notice any ‘odor’, beyond it’s a color chemical ? It’s not overwhelming. This is the first time I tried this brand. Probably will continue to shop around when it is time for the next color. I used light ash brown

It did turnout a little darker than I expected, my hair is already dark brown, but this turned out almost black. After 2 washes it has lightened up a little. Just be careful with this color if you don't want almost black hair. Otherwise I would recommend this brand.

had to switch when revlon was discontinued which was the best. this is okay, haven't found anything better. takes a long time to use to get grey hair roots to cover and lasts about 3 weeks before have to use a temp spray on til can do hair again.

Although the mixture turned dark gray, the actual hair was not dyed, just the area around it. This is unlike what the brand I previously used. Also, the fuse stung my eyes. I was surprised it wasn't more gentle. I like the bonus shampoo and conditioner, which made my hair soft, but the main purpose was to dye my hair.

I’ve loyally used Excellence Crème Permanent Color for over ten years. I was reluctant and concerned that L’Oréal changed the product from having the pre-color protector for the ends and replaced it with an after care shampoo, but I LOVE IT!!! The color did not deposit or look darker on the ends. It was easier to color my roots, without dealing with tangles that I’d get from the pretreatment protector and the shampoo is wonderful! My hair is soft, the color looks natural and you kept the deep conditioning treatment! BRAVO L’Oréal! Change is good!!!
