Q: From Levoit's own website, it says Core 200S line doesn't come with HEPA filter. It is a non-HEPA filter. Is this product's specification on target page correct?

A: To maintain your filter, we recommend cleaning the pre-filter (outer layer of the filter) using a soft brush or vacuum hose every 2-4 weeks. However, please do not use water or liquid to clean the filter, as trapped water particles may lead to mold growth or mildew odors. Either way, it is encouraged to change the filters after about 6-8 months of use or at your discretion.

A: All of our air purifiers effectively trap all airborne pollutants (dust, pollen, smoke, mold, etc.). Besides the physical appearance, the main difference between our units is the effective range they can cover. Purchased this item from Target for a large room. We have an air quality monitor there for our parrot. Unboxed the unit and removed the plastic bag on filter as instructed before running. VOC level in the room immediately increased. We moved the parrot to another part of the house and continued to watch the VOC level rise in the room with the Levoit air "purifier" (see screen capture of air quality monitor). After several hours, VOC levels remained elevated and we began to feel dizzy so we turned off and removed the unit and VOC levels in the room began to fall. Others on Reddit have reported this same issue specifically for Levoit air purifier products. It's very disturbing that a product marketed for improving air quality would do the exact opposite, but that's what this product does. Returning to store. Buy at your own risk.

Average purifier. Levoit has a lawsuit for advertising their purifiers as “HEPA” when independent testing confirmed that they didn’t meet the standards. They have since removed “HEPA” from all of their products because it’s considered deceptive marketing. Do a quick google search. The replacement filters are also very expensive in comparison to other brands. Too expensive to operate overall so I’ll be avoiding this brands.

So I found this purifier on sale, $ 20 off, and I bought it last night. The good part: The purifier seems very quiet, much better than my old one from another brand. I wanted to buy a new one because I run my Holmes all the time but still have a ton of dust everywhere. The bad part: I don't have a car and had to get an Uber to take this heavy item home. THE PURIFIER WAS USED, the filter had all sorts of dust on it. Totally disgusted, not with the item itself but Target lack of thouroghly inspecting returned items, and the other customer who used it and returned and lied about the condition. I actually do have a question about the wireless built into this item. I won't use it and don't want more wireless in my home than necessary.

i dont write reviews… however. this thing is amazing and 100% worth the price. i’m allergic to my cat, and my house gets very dusty very quickly. my cat is also a stinky little man. i bought this in july, and just today, december 15th, i have had to replace the filter. it was COVERED in a thick layer of dust(?) like crazy. i have never seen anything like that, almost like a dryer vent. i’m really happy i purchased, the app is nice and easy to use. the settings are easy to navigate and it also looks cute.

I would definitely inform people on the box about the filter being wrapped in plastic. I am the worst at reading the instruction manual especially or a simple purifier I would definitely overlook this which I wanted to inform people about because I think it could cause a fire. My point is to inform people about taking the filter plastic off then using it.

I bought this earlier this year after much research. Since then, they have removed all words of HEPA from the product description and advertising. Also if you look up Levoit on the CARB website, this model number no longer complies. Will be returning
